80th anniversary of The Abdication
King Edward VIII abdicated this month 80 years ago on 11 December 1936
Given the same situation nowadays, had he lived 80 years later, do you think he would still have to abdicate? Also, if he had refused to abdicate and still marry Wallis Simpson, what would have happened? Could the government have forced him to abdicate? I think he could have got away with it as he was very popular with the public.
