This proves how much the quality has dropped...

People laugh at Leon as being a poor winner and flopping after he won but this vocal has no big production or backing track to prop it up and con the public. He was a kid folding clothes in GAP, not a professional who sang in Frozen hand picked to participate in a contrived circus. Matt Terry and 5 After Midnight aren't even close to this.

Cowell's disgusted look towards the end is priceless. He is one of the most overrated people in the music industry. Wouldn't know talent if it slapped him in the face yet still gets so much undeserved air time on ITV. He really must have ITV bosses in his back pocket.

I'm sorry but Leon Jackson just didn't have the "X Factor". He looked incredibly awkward during most of his performances and had the stage presence of a card board cut out.

Then again 2007 is, imo, the second worst ever series of X Factor only beaten by the horror that is 2012.

Did he look awkward in the video link I posted (week 3)? Tell me which other weeks he looked awkward apart from weeks 1 and 2 and guest appearance the following year?

Sorry but he's a far better singer than Matt, 5AM, Ben to name but a few. Saara is a good singer but not my cup of tea - no matter, Olly Murs is a terrible singer who doesn't have the X Factor but is a lucky bubbly guy who has received an insane amount of backing and was in the right place at the right time.

My point was simply to highlight how low we have sunk

I don't think Leon was bad. But neither are 5AM, Matt, Ben or Olly. They can all actually sing in tune and sound nice. Thanks for sharing your hatred though. Enjoy seething .

What the X Factor used to have is contestants we could get invested in. People who were more amateur, who had a talent, who could go through a transformation and a makeover and become something really special.

When you have, as we do nowadays, people turning up to auditions fully formed, with existing experience of the music industry and of professional recording, it does make a mockery of the whole process, as well as killing stone dead that emotional connection.

Unless you're a young kid watching who doesn't know any better.

That's the side of people like Leon that we could get behind and invest in. Tesco Mary would be another example of that.

Of the three finalists this year we have a Disney actress, a CBBC actor who's worked with Rihanna's producer and Beyonce's management (this is, one third of 5AM) and Matt Terry whose backstory suggests, from various reports, that he's also far from a complete amateur.

The whole point of reality TV is that they're supposed to use ordinary folk, members of the public. Nowadays it seems the only place you can still get that is on gameshows. Even Big Brother now wants semi-celebs for its 'regular people' serieses.

Absolutely couldn't agree more!

I have to say i think 2014 another year that was a very underrated season in terms of talent. I remember people criticising it then but i think 2014 has some of the best talent the show has had.

I mean Lauren Platt, Andrea Faustini, etc.. would easily win the show this season.

didnt watch 2012 or 2013

2011 was really good for talent too.

I will never understand how Leon even won that series...Rhydian was in a different league to him

This show has to be the worst going by the three finalists who have all been in the B2.
So in all honestly they all have a chance of winning it. No-one stands out

Over the years the ultimate winner and runner-up never ended up in the sing-off with the exception of the year James Arthur won but him and Ella ending up in the sing-off that series had to be the biggest shock in Xfactor history well to me anyway.

All previous winners were almost the favourite from day one. I assumed Matt had this but now I am not sure. Could we see a possible 5am taking it

Sadly, I think it has to be this way from now on. Reality TV has imploded so much that they can't get real people to do reality because no real people want to do it. The closest thing you'll get is on Come Dine With Me and even that has started to be filled with wacky "look-at-me" types. They can't get real people on Big Brother because real people don't want to go on Big Brother any more. Why would anyone with a life want to do it in its current state? Same with X Factor. Who would want to be on such a farce of a show and knowing that the rewards for both shows are now so limited it would cause more damage than good.

Some very good points. I didn't think much of Leon but he was certainly head and shoulders above this years lot. As for Saara, although she is my winner I've been saying for weeks that she was a pro who already had a good career.

Leon's not my type of singer at all as I really dislike Swing Music, but he definitely has more talent than 5AM, and no genre Matt, both don't even deserve to be in the final of this year, let alone in a year that had Rhydian on it.

I also do agree that Leon obviously had less help with the backing track and sound equipment which meant we was able to fully judge him more than we can most acts nowadays unless they want said act not to do as well like Freddy, Sam, and Relley.

My God, he's even worse than I remember. Worst winner of the worst series in X Factor history!

Leon wasn't bad, but he was just so underwhelming. 2007 was a dire series without much competition, but I still felt Rhydian or even Same Difference would have been better winners than him.

Series 4 was a weird year. I don't think anything went the way they were expecting it too- I think the 3 finalists were the 3 rank outsiders before the live shows started.
