McDonalds to move from Luxembourg to the UK
Breaking news on the Daily Politics that McDonalds are moving from Luxembourg to the UK and will be paying tax here on all of it's non-US operations
McDonald’s Corp. says it will create a new holding company based in the U.K., where it will pay tax for most of the royalties it receives on fast food sales outside the U.S., Bloomberg News reports. The move comes after the EU launched a probe into the company's tax arrangements in Luxembourg in December 2015. In an e-mailed statement, the company said it would create a new corporate structure in the new year, which will create a new U.K. unit “with responsibility for the majority of the royalties received from licensing the company’s global intellectual property rights outside the United States.” The profits of this new holding company will pay U.K. corporation tax. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...bourg-iwgc5sbe |

Junker loses junk food. They may try to take our banks, but we'll take their fries.
Possibly not something the EU wanted to happen, but to be expected following EU investigations into the tax arrangements Junker encouraged for Luxembourg. |

Great news. McDonalds, a very respected food chain that provides a cheap service for working class folk and creates millions of jobs for those without degrees or qualifications such as students who are studying

I despise McDonalds. Everything about them from their rape of the rain forests to their vile food offerings.
But beggars can't be choosers, can they. |

I wonder if the referendum vote could be divided along pro or anti McDonalds lines?

So we're now officially a tax haven outside of the reach of proper regulation . . . . .

The EU competition enforcer said McDonald's had not paid any corporate taxes in Luxembourg or the United States on royalties paid by franchisees in Europe and Russia since 2009, as a result of two tax rulings by the Luxembourg authorities.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-eu...0TM17J20151203They'l look to pay no Corporation tax, employ less than 20 people at the new HQ and funnel money through the UK HQ into some other Tax haven where the money will sit collecting dust. Pointless |

I hate McDonalds and the people who go in and eat their food. Go into a McDonald's "restaurant" and you see the typical evil adidas wearing neds to the older gentlemen, to students to stupid kids, from the chubby fatties to the anorexic which gets on my nerves. I personally wouldn't go into one without a second amendment right, something that stupid Brits (the English, Scots and Welsh) don't understand.

Just to explain, if you're big business it's a choice between an established G7 and a Germany mired by association with a bunch of minnow basket cases. Like, as a commercial decision it isn't even close ... |
