Are the Grammys a disgrace to music?
I am looking through the Grammy nominees and I can only see 1 deserving nominee (Twenty One Pilots).
Where are The 1975? They are all over end of year lists but can't even notch up an alternative album nomination? No, the Grammys would rather nominate Justin Bieber. LOL. And Beyonce? LOL. I'm sorry but I'll never taker her seriously as a musician...no matter how "critically acclaimed" the music she has made for her gets. Now if album of the year was awarded to who had sold the most perfumes I'd understand the nominees. What else do we have? Blink 182 nominated when California is their worst album? I guess it's because they got name dropped in a Chainsmokers song. LOL...You couldn't make it up you really couldn't. Beyonce song of the year? I'm surprised they can fit her nomination in the list with all the songwriters involved in it. Then check out Twenty One Pilots....ONE name on their credits. And now the best for last...That novelty song 7 Years gets not only song of the year but also record of the year...I really have heard it all now. So it has better production than any of The 1975 tracks? LOL. Maybe if Mr Blobby had released a new song he could have been up for it? Have the Grammys learned nothing from Milli Vanilli? I'm surprised media darlings LIttle Mix weren't nominated considering how overexposed and overrated they are. Oh wait, The Grammys are American, not small time Britain LOL. I wonder who'll be performing at the ceremony? No doubt everybody's favourite in offensive pop star Bruno Mars will show up. I wonder if this limelight hogger will actually mention any of his co-writers in between shoving his face in the camera at every opportunity. Yes, welcome to the Grammys where music frauds get recognised for being played on the radio a lot. Good luck T0P. |

Well the 1975 are at best like Placebo doing 80's covers and at worst a NME wankfest band. As for 21 Pilots they are entry level rock band for the snapchat tweenager generation.
Not that I give a fudge about the Grammys. |

This is one of the few times where i am in agreement with Beyonce's nominations. I still think the majority of her previous wins and nominations have all been rather OTT. 62 nominations? Please.

I think the new Blink 182 album is pretty good, the Grammys are famously slow, they will probably give The 1975 best newcomer in 10 years time, I wouldn't pay them much attention.

I'm a bit gutted for Shawn Mendes. Even more so when Justin Bieber gets nominated instead.

I've not taken any notice of the pop catagories. I'm just glad that Miranda Lambert has been nominated two times for "Vice". Hopefully her double album "The Weight of these Wings" will be nominated in a few catagories next year seeing as it was released too late to be considered for this year's Grammys.

Rihanna deserved an Album of the Year nomination ahead of Drake and Bieber.

I was disappointed that Britney wasn't nominated for anything. She deserved to be nominated for Album of the Year with Glory. It's a good album and a return to form for her, much better than Britney Jean. I think most of the nominations are based on what's 'trendy' at the moment rather than the quality of the actual music.

Sorry OP but you are completely wrong about Beyoncé. She's a very serious, very relevant musician. 'Lemonade' and 'Formation' are the album and single of the year whatever the number of writers.
I am a great fan of the The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots and I don't understand the omission of the former. |

I'm guessing Beyonce is nominated so that she can lose out to another "white" artist. Cue Kanye West going on a rampage and making an arse of himself...again!!!
![]() Well, they say things happen in "threes". He's already done this to Taylor Swift and Beck. I reckon this time it will either be twenty one pilots or Adele. -_- Ideally Kanye just doesn't bother showing up.

In a way, they are. A few awesome acts have been awarded in the past, but sadly others who are just as deserving still have yet to get even one.
God bless you and them always!!! Holly P.S. At the end of the day you just need to remember that awards are not what get the bills paid.

Not that I give a fudge about the Grammys. My daughter (13) loves 21 Pilots and they are her first band outside pop circles and from what I've seen and heard they do seem to more aimed at her age group than adults. I guess that not a bad thing is it? Shame the actually music they make is dreadful though, personally I'd much rather my daughter makes me listen to the previously mentioned Swift album when we go on a car ride!!! I don't suppose The Dear Hunter is up for an award Ha!. Act V : Hymns with the Devil in Confessional is the best album I've brought this year. |

As much as i dislike Bieber Purpose is pretty good for a pop album these days. Not him though, his writers and producers, they did all the heavy lifting there. So i can understand the nominations.

Not that I give a fudge about the Grammys. Twenty One Pilots cover about 4 genres in every track so certainly not entry level. Tyler Joseph is a genius no less. |

Can't say I get a Placebo vibe from the 1975 and I was a fan of Placebo back in the early days. I do understand the whole 80's thing though of the 20 odd records I purchased this year, I can't honestly say the 1975 one isn't anywhere near the top. Ironically (and I'd never admit this to her) my daughter has the latest Taylor Swift album, which is another homage/rip-off to the 80's and I have to admit I actually prefer that over the 1975 album! It's easily the best album my daughter owns!!! Speaking of which...

You shouldn't really define music by what ages people who like them are. I take it Nirvana were rubbish because it was mostly young people at their shows? |
