A Question for Grahamlthompson
Hi Graham
The answer to this question may be easier than I think. I have a dual cable Foxsat connected to a Samsung Ku7500. The Foxsat is connected via an HMDI cable, and another cable from the middle sat connection to the TV. Currently the Humax does all it is designed to do, but I thought I would like to take advantage of the recording facility on the TV, thus gaining a third channel recording option. To this end, I purchased a WD MYBOOK AV-TV 2TB HDD and thought I would easily be able to record a third channel. However, I was completely wrong. if I try to record a third channel I run in to the conflict problem, making the disk really, a waste of money. I can record a third channel if I am careful, which leads up to my question: I still have a copy of your "clash detector" so can I use it to tell me what channels will be available on the "line through" to be recorded on my disk. For example, If on the Humax I am recording 106 and 111, will the detector tell me what I can record on the disk. If I enter 106 and 111 in the detector is the "can watch" result the same? Secondly, would all these problems go away if I run a third cable directly from the dish to the TV, and indeed can I run one extra cable or does it have to be two? Sorry to be so long winded, but I am very grateful for your anticipated help Robert |

Sorry to be so long winded, but I am very grateful for your anticipated help Robert First of all the Humax must have low power sby enabled. With the box in full sby the TV has access to any channel. The restriction on what the TV can use when the Foxsat is booted or recording in sby depends on the channel tuner 1 is using. If you have the auto Excel version run it by using the single cable option and select the channel you are recording using tuner 1 (Usually the first entered in the time slot). The channels shown as being recordable by tuner 2 are the ones the TV will have access to. A 3rd cable from the lnb will make the TV completely independent of the Foxsat (Two if the TV happens to have twin satellite tuners (My panasonic has twin freesat tuners). You can also use the manual (Excel or HTM ) versions to figure out what combination is possible. Basically when Foxsat is not in full sby channels in same band (Low/High) and same polarisation are usable using the TV. The channel the second tuner on the Foxsat is using isn't relevant because it has a direct cable to the lnb. If tuner 1 is recording 106 (assuming You are using an English postcode - Low Band/Vertical) the TV will have. 121 Channel 4 + 1 122 E4 123 E4 + 1 124 More4 975 Channel 4 + 1 103 ITV 113 ITV2 117 ITV4 118 ITVBe 155 ITV4+1 602 CITV 977 ITV London 103 ITV London 103 ITV Granada 103 ITV Anglia East 103 ITV Central West 101 BBC One W Mid 201 BBC Parliament 703 BBC Radio 3 704 BBC Radio 4 FM 707 BBC 6Music 708 BBC Radio 4 Ex 710 BBC Radio 4 LW 711 BBC World Sv 712 BBC R Scotland 713 BBC RnGaidheal 714 BBC R Wales 715 BBC R Cymru 716 BBC R Ulster 717 BBCRadioFoyle 952 BBC One E Mid 953 BBC One East E 963 BBC One W Mid 964 BBC One Wales 967 BBC One Yk&Li 971 BBC Two Wales 212 BBC NEWS 607 CBBC 957 BBC One NI 958 BBC One Oxford 961 BBC One South 962 BBC One S West 969 BBC Two NI 102 BBC Two HD 106 BBC One HD 600 CBBC HD 972 BBC One HD 978 BBC One NI HD 115 ITV3 116 ITV3+1 731 talkSPORT 112 STV East + 1 103 STV North 103 STV Central West 103 STV Central East 112 ITV Granada + 1 103 ITV Channel TV 111 STV HD 111 ITV HD 111 ITV London HD 111 ITV Granada HD 111 ITV Meridian South HD 111 ITV Central West HD 111 ITV HD Anglia East 111 ITV HD Yorkshire West 207 CNN 127 4seven 206 RT HD 209 NHK WORLD HD 214 Arirang TV 692 Revelation 694 GOD Channel 142 True Ent 153 True Ent+ 1 152 True Crime+ 1 302 True Xmas 303 True Xmas+ 1 500 Chart Show TV 501 The Vault 502 ChartShow Hits 504 Starz TV 603 POP 605 Tiny Pop 604 Kix 606 POP MAX 609 Tiny Pop +1 134 CBS Drama 136 CBS Reality +1 139 horror ch+1 135 CBS Reality 137 CBS Action 138 horror channel 693 ISLAM CHANNEL 695 Sonlife TV 809 TJC 143 True Crime 148 Food Network 149 Food Network+1 156 PBS America 157 YourTV 205 France 24 811 Craft Extra 870 BABESTATION 210 CNBC 503 B4U Music 306 TalkingPics TV 806 JML Direct 161 SHOWCASE 693 ISLAM CHANNEL 695 Sonlife TV 809 TJC 815 Thane 400 IRISH TV 790 TWR 511 VIVA Download latest version from this thread https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/what...-1-or-2-cables |
