Afternoon

Was wondering if someone could recommend a good photo editing software.

I want to remove the background from a picture I have and just keep the subject matter in the frame and essentially have them standing against a plain, white or no background.

Is there anything anyone could recommend?

Thanks

You could try Paint.NET

http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Has the distinct advantage that if you find it useless you haven't wasted any of your hard earned on it as it's free But it is pretty decent image editing software and can do some quite powerful stuff.

They have a forum with Tutorials that might have something like what you want to do to give you a starting point.

Gimp (for Windows) it's free and supposedly very good but might be a bit complicated.

There is an online photo-editing app called Pixlr, you just go to the website and open your picture and then edit it.

If you don't want to do the editing yourself then people in forums (including this one) will often be able to do it for free.

I have used Corel for several years now and find it is excellent. Why not try a free trial?

Good luck.

I was tempted by this one that has now been released for Widows now (something called Affinity and £10 off at the moment making it £29.99 without any subscriptions and has good reviews): https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/pho...en&MC=WBGSER01

Just talked myself into it now and bought (mainly for cutting objects out of photos and pasting them onto others as my ancient version of Photoshop stopped working with Windows 10.

If you want to do it properly you could always try the photoshop free trial. You will probably want to watch a tutorial on how to do it as photoshop is quite intimidating to the uninitiated. Its not a difficult procedure though, and could even be very easy depending on the what you are cutting our.

Adobe Photoshop in all its various formats is (supposedly) the world leader.

Yeah Gimp is good. Very close to PhotoShop tools.

If it's just one picture then GIMP or piant.net would be fine. I would only download a Photo shop trial if your doing them in bulk.

GIMP

What you want to do is really simple so you may be able to find an easier program, but gimp is amazing and very powefull for a free tool.
