Do contestants get paid for the tour?

You know how they're always so desperate to go on the tour, how much do you think they get paid?

Also what about all these appearances honey g is doing? Her business went bust while she was on the show, I wonder if she is making loads like Jedward did

Yes they do, between £50-100k depending on how many songs they sing. The people that leave earlier only do one song and group song usually but the finalists do more and the winner does the most songs, obviously.

Gifty will be fuming to read that, seeing as she just missed out on the tour

Sometimes they do this:

That's really good for the contestants. An opportunity to promote themselves and earn some money to keep them going after the show has finished.

It also depends on how well the tour sells.

Yes, roughly what the performers in bigger musicals make, and with about as much exposure..Around 50 to 100 grand though much of that will go to "expenses" It still leaves the acts with a respectable "take home" for the year.

Wow, I had no idea they got so much!

Explains why Gifty was so angry.

I'm surprised they get that much. I'm sure I read elsewhere they get a much smaller amount, but the reason they are all so keen to get on the tour is because it's a great promo opportunity and at the end of the day work.

Yep! Getting very close to the final, or the final, will boost their profile massively, especially if you're being talked about a lot. Then there's the tour where you'll be seen, yet again, by X Factor fans. I would say that The X Factor boosts your profile massively if a lot of people start talking about you.

I saw this thread earlier but couldnt find the article until now. Its from 2011 but I doubt the rate has gone up that much with diminishing returns.
