According to this programme shown today on BBC1, for some fans the pie at half time is a key part of the match as well as the game (from about 0:19).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06rjn1g

In fact, some fans have said that they would consider changing allegiance for a ground with better quality, larger and lower priced pies!

I wouldn't have thought this to be the case, so have set up this poll to see what others think.

How important are the pies to you?

Would you ever consider changing team because of them?

Bit of trivia:

Apparently, in the top 92 clubs Bradford sell the worst pies as they are bought in, poor quality and cost £3.20.

The most expensive is Brighton and Hove Albion at £4.10, however, these are hand made award winning pies.

The average cost in the country at football grounds is £3.03

Rochdale costs the least at £2.

Who said that?

I don't really want a pie at a match. I sit at half time and reflect on the half or talk to other fans.

Did any fans actually say they'd switch teams based on pies?

The quality of the pie is irrelevant for me - I've *never* had a pie at a football match.

I bought the Brighton one when I visited their ground two months ago. It was the best pie I had ever had at a football match but 4.10 is ridiculous

I never understand this surge to go for a pie, or even a drink or a piss at half time. Do them all at 14::50, then again at 17:00 if you have to. That should be ample.

I like a nice pie, but as part of a dinner. I don't think that I could eat one out of a packet, surely it just spills out everywhere?

I don't know what football grounds you go to but I've never been to a game where a pie stall is still open after the game is finished.

Most seem to close around the 60 minute mark.

I don't believe they did. If they did they aren't really fans.

You aren't drinking enough booze before the match if you can go 2 hours without a piss.

I never buy anything at games. Partly because we don't own our ground so won't get anything from it, also because it's a load of shite.

Shy bladder mainly though, can't do urinals.

Sometimes I have had a pie at the match. Nevertheless the quality of the pie is not as important as seeing the team win, nor would I consider switching teams because of the pies.

There was a great joke about pies in the 1960s:

Man arranges to meet his friend at Maine Road to watch Man City. The bus gets held up in the trafiic and he is a few minutes late. Getting inside the ground he hears a mighty cheer from the crowd. He gets to his friend and says, what happenned have we scored? No says his friend, that was just the man with the pies coming on.....!!

Those were the days.

Man Utd must have brilliant pies, that's why Rooney left Everton

It was non-league, but Kidderminster have great pies. Served in tin foil that you need a fork for. Gorgeous.

as important as the game itself I have family in Scotland and whenever I was there& Brechin city were playing a home game I remember my dad taking me& always loving the pie at half time as much as the game itself so that's why I went for that option

Well if he did actually say it he is obviously a nob. I can guarantee you know that you could ask a thousand football fans the question and not one of them would say they would change clubs for a better pie.
