Gosh, we're determined to see this forum disappear up its own fundament this year, aren't we? First rehashing the entire Will Young saga, and now dragging up the Jay baby comment again.
What about that Pixie, eh? She should never have gone out when she did. |

It's claimed that 23 million people enjoy The Game of Thrones, so presumably they too enjoy watching all the sex and violence (from what I've heard that is mainly what the show is about) , so maybe they should all apologise for admitting to liking the show?

Why not ? Why is Jay off limits for criticism over stupid insensitive humour while CRH is fair game ?
I think watching a child dance on a vid clip and then declaring 'I just want to cut off his hair and hands and feet - and squeeze him - and put him in a bag and kick it .' on a tea time family show much worse than making adult sarcastic remarks in a late night show . No, Jay isn't off-limits, but good lord, woman...it's been a YEAR! Let it go already. |

It isn't "PC gone mad" to find jokes/sarcasm about rape distasteful, and to say so. Why would people want to make such comments about rape anyway? it's not funny, it's not to be sneered at, and it's not to be "enjoyed". It's a horrible, violent, devastating crime.
What's actually wrong with being PC anyway? Being politically correct is just another way of saying that you try not to cause offence to other people. Why is that so dreadful? |

Or maybe some people are a bit odd and choose to watch such things because they don't like them, I dunno... ![]() If people find that such scenes are not to their liking, they ought to express that by not watching the programme, however cherry-picking who may watch it and declare that they enjoyed it (or not) without being judged for doing so is frankly a little rich.

![]() I am confused how it's OK to show it in a TV show on Sky, but not OK for a BBC judge to comment on it? Maybe as The Sun is part of Murdoch group that explains the double standards. |

What's actually wrong with being PC anyway? Being politically correct is just another way of saying that you try not to cause offence to other people. Why is that so dreadful? This is an absolutely typical example. Without so much as consulting the people who might conceivably actually have been affected (God forbid that people should be allowed to speak for themselves) some do-gooder organisation weighs in to tell us what they think the people who might be affected should think and complain that we haven't taken this (almost entirely fictitious) thinking into account so only death (or the end of our careers at least) is good enough for us. It is, as always totally disproportionate, unthinking, malice but it's ok because it's in a good cause! Trouble is when you actually speak to the people that these groups supposedly represent they almost always say they laughed it off or weren't bothered or, as often as not, took a clip[ and showed it to all their mates at work the next day! The net effect of PC has been to do the exact opposite of its supposed intention. It has, in many, many cases, merely served to further marginalise and disenfranchise those who it claims to speak for by becoming an end in itself, outrage for outrage's sake, a cause that like pretty much every quasi-religion has become self-serving. There, you go. That's what's wrong with PC. |

Game of Thrones is for people who enjoy this type of thing.. if anything it promotes the worst urges in people like sex, violence to let it out in an "acceptable way".. it is like a drug people feed on (hence the term binge watching). I don't think it's healthy at times and could be the cause of rage if there was a scientific study. I mean these are probably people who work in suits etc but they have a dark side of them they like to cater to ! to try to keep it in check..
I prefer the TV series that are more story based, character development. Give me LOST which tells a very important story and has a meaning/purpose over the overrated Game of Thrones anyday. |

It's a little funny to see 'sex scenes' and 'cleavers through skulls' being summed up as boring, so I question his judgement on Game of Thrones.
But apart from that, meh. Although if you want to get arsey about the wording, it was a poor choice of words about rape. On the show the recent rape scene was portrayed as deeply disturbing and upsetting, not to be liked, and the perpetrator got their comeuppance at the hands of their victim. But since this was said after the watershed, seems like a lot of knicker-twisting over nothing. |

I can't see why people had a problem with this. It's obvious that he meant he liked the really soapy elements of it - the heaving bosoms and flowery language. He didn't mean he gets sexual pleasure from the rape scenes. If he's like me, he means that they're so overacted and shot so that they can show off as much nudity as possible that they're actually quite funny.

I have no issue with him liking scenes in a tv show, no matter how groce and violent they may be. They're just that, manufactured scenes.

Any series that has Charles Dance assassinated by a dwarf while he is having a shit cannot be described as boring! #JustSaying

I agree with this, I do not know a lot about GOT I do not watch it, but reading The Sun, it seems, OK to watch it, but not OK for Craig to make a comment on it?

I'm more upset that Craig used to be a prostitute! That's more of a reason why he shouldn't be on SCD? Hardly a role model. Not that I think he shouldn't be on SCD, but if you disapprove of sex workers then you could get all 'Daily Mail' about his past rather than his comments about a fantasy tv show!

I note even The Sun, has given up on this subject. Today's Sun has a very very small article inside, hidden away that CRH has apologised for any upset. The Sun has moved in due to lack of " outcry " on their pathetic drumming up of a non story.
Murdoch group are happy to screen GOT but have outcry if anyone likes it.
