The problem with Claudia for me is that she often doesn't do the dance that is actually asked for but packs it with lifts or tricks that show her gymnastics talent and wow the audience. And these aren't even incorporated smoothly. The last time I saw her try to perform a full proper dance was the Jive and that was very poor.
Meanwhile Ore is a bit variable but is good at presenting the dance and is actually learning the individual dances and seems focused on that rather than winning at all cost. I think he deserves to stay more as he is more what Strictly is about. |

I think he deserves to stay more as he is more what Strictly is about. The lifts in her Charleston were very brief and not especially dramatic (Danny's one handed cartwheel in his Charleston was more gymnasticy than anything in Claudia's Charleston) and the lifts in her AS were praised for complimenting the dance. People are only moaning about lifts because she has done two dances in a row with lifts and they forget about all the good routines she has done without lifts. |

Danny is the best all-rounder, but I think there is a different order, depending on whether we're talking ballroom or latin, and I also feel I have to remove 'lift execution' from actual dancing, because they're two very different skills. For me it goes:
Ballroom: 1. Louise 2. Danny 3. Claudia 4. Ore Latin: 1. Danny 2. Ore 3. Claudia 4. Louise Bit controversial, I know, but take Claudia's lifts and tricks out of her latin, and I think she's slightly less impressive than Ore in terms of hip movement, kicks, flicks and shaping (I'm thinking especially of their respective pasos and jives). Louise is a beautiful ballroom dancer, and has more flair than Danny in that discipline, but I think there's been a whole load of cover-up going on with her latin routines, and some overmarked scoring there, given just how little hip movement she's displayed so far. I think her samba this weekend will be very exposing, but we'll see just how the judges treat it! Her AT was good (although requiring far less hip swivel), but nowhere near Danny and Claudia's for quality and complexity, and her jive was far poorer than Danny and Ore's versions. If I had to do an overall ranking, it would be: 1. Danny 2. Louise 3. Ore/Claudia (can't separate them) |

If I were to judge purely on technical ability then
1. Louise 2. Danny 3. Claudia 4. Ore If you add in performance then it changes completely: 1. Danny 2. Ore 3. Claudia 4. Louise The second list would be my preferred finishing order. |

On technique, Danny's feet aren't good enough to put him first (cf tango), so -
1. Louise 2. Danny 3. Claudia (she is the most improved of this season) 4. Ore (his posture sometimes disappoints, although I hope that has changed with his Paso, and his balance was not good in the waltz) Performance values vary too much with the different dances to make a clear judgement, although I would probably put - 1. Danny 2. Claudia 3. Ore 4. Louise |

Dance technical ability only...
1. Louise 2. Danny (Ballroom) 1. Danny 2. Louise (Latin) 3. Claudia (drops below Ore when the choreography is too frantic/gym-tastic) 4. Ore |

I think the only honest answer is that I have no idea. I can tell if something looks awkward or they fell over, I can tell if it looks ugly, but beyond that I just know if I enjoyed it as a whole or not. I can't really divide technique from performance like that. (And, even worse, sometimes, with ballroom hold or some of the more poised latin moves, I prefer the lesser version of the celeb to the correct but to me exaggerated positions of the pros.)
My favourites have gone now and all the ones still in deserve their place and have done dances I have enjoyed. I am going to vote for whoever I enjoy most on the night. At the moment, I feel that Danny dances (at his best) as if he'd dance even if you didn't make him. I think the others are doing their best and working their socks off and enjoying being good, but I slightly feel they are approaching it with the same spirit they would with cooking if they were on Celeb Bake Off or whatever. So I am edging towards voting for Danny because I think it could make a difference for him in what he does next, and I don't think that for the others, but that doesn't mean I don't like them as people or won't support them in what they do in their real jobs. |

The jive has been the only ropey dance she has done, the week before that she did a beautiful VW with no lifts or gymnastics.
The lifts in her Charleston were very brief and not especially dramatic (Danny's one handed cartwheel in his Charleston was more gymnasticy than anything in Claudia's Charleston) and the lifts in her AS were praised for complimenting the dance. I don't think her previous dances had any wow factor and the difference between her lifts and the others is that the overwhelmed the dance content rather than fit smoothly into them. I think her use of lifts is detrimental to the dance rather than complimentary. So the last 2 weeks for me have been a step backwards rather than a breakthrough.

Her Charleston was a wow dance for me, it was incredible for a week three dance and someone with more dance knowledge than me is going to have to explain how it didn't get a 10. Also, it wasn't necessarily a slap you round the face wow dance, but I thought her VW was absolutely stunning and really stood out for me. One thing that makes me want her in the final is that she has an opportunity to revisit a couple of them and I feel there would be a real improvement. Her Paso is one I would also like to see her do again now that she is improving as a performer.

Sorry to be dense but what does BIB mean?
![]() Ed Balls and Judge Rinder were the two who rated highest for me on performance - I found more of their routines to be rewatchable. |
