I'm hoping the BBC finally decide to get their act together and pick songs similar to those that are doing well in the UK charts. Something like this would go down a storm at Eurovision.

If they pick another Electro Velvet, they might as well give up and hand it over to ITV. What would you like to see?

Don't worry, there will be no Electro Velvet this year!

There might be a few slightly familiar faces back in the fold, though...

Bianca? Natasha Bedingfield? *gulp* Dulcima...

Also, is your blog still on the go, Roy? That made fun reading during last year's NF season!

Aww cheers Foxi! Yeah, it's still going - and I was plugging it to death, Lisa, until I got a polite warning from the folks in charge. And quite rightly so!

There's not been too much bonkers stuff yet, but there's been a few gems.

And I can say no more, NPG - I've already said too much...

Apart from the BGT polar guy in Belarus and a couple of the weird and wonderful in Finland, it's all been a bit tame so far. Not helped because Sweet Brains didn't fancy another go and Switzerland kept it all behind closed doors this year.

There's bound to be something nutty in Moldova and in Georgia's bumper extravaganza though!

Oh yes, one can but hope. Sasha Bognibov his planning his usual assault on Moldova, but there's a great little band called La Mandili on the Georgian longlist that I'm really hoping make the televised stage - but I'm quite sure they'll throw up something unhinged, too!

Oh, and let's not forget the slightly worrying Alex Angel, who seems to have applied for everyone this year!

You tease. I hope and pray on the 23rd I will not have to retreat to the nuclear bunker while here and Eurovision Twitter implode!

I think whatever we pick there will always be an element of harping from the usual suspects. But from what I know, there's at least a couple of half decent songs on the list, and the song that I suspect to be the OGAE pick is a little more memorable than last year's...

But if I say any more I may suddenly be disappeared...

Ok then. Thanks. Best say no more!I suppose the best thing to do is keep expectations very low. Was hoping the songwriting dungeon would kick out a few good ones but oh well..

What was the OGAE pick last year? BASCA entered that God awful 'Better Man' song, right?

You make it sound like Guy Freeman is waiting for you in an unmarked van and a balaclava.

Good job most of us will be in London and away from the online meltdown at whatever is chosen, well for a few hours at least! Imagine if the forum upgrade was scheduled for then.

OGAE UK have been sending out rejection letters. This snoozefest has been filtered out, at least:

Thankfully she'd have been too late to submit, and would be on the X Factor tour anyway. We'll have to wait until next year for that joy, I'm quite sure!

Is that a reject? The post date was 6th October. I saw one screenshot of a rejection email on 12th November.
