No, I do think that when you evoke the colonial days (especially with a map of Africa), you're talking about a very dark part of our history that we should be ashamed of. And along side oppression came an almost endless list of benefits which could be argued built the foundations of the modern world. I prefer to look at it from both angles. But.... as a name for a beverage, it was woefully misjudged. A lot of young people don't tend to have pragmatic views; they nearly always feel passionate about stuff like this, and therefore it's a terrible word to put on a drink that will be consumed mostly by that group. Morally, the word is fine for a product. From a business point of view, terrible. |
