Hi folks, attempted to download software last night to do the above, it was in downlods but couldn't get it to activate, I think it was called Moavi or something like that, could anyone reccomend any other downloads that can be easily used by a technophobe like myself, I have a lovely image of a baby grandaughter that I want to use for Christmas presents.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I was wondering what 'imag date removal' was, perhaps the Apple iMag or maybe IMAG image magnification? But now hallelujah I am enlightened, image date removal, OK that makes sense.

Tell you what OP, why don't you upload that pic of your granddaughter to an image site, http://imgur.com/upload would be good, and post the link here. The higher resolution the pic is, the easier it will be to remove the date and make it look like the date was never there.

I should think that one of the kind hearted folk here would perhaps remove the date from the pic for you, Tassium maybe, 'cause he's brilliant at it, or albertd might have a go. I might even try myself.

Is it not possible to crop the image to remove the part that shows the date stamp, or will doing that remove too much of the wanted image?

if I were to do this would the image be mine and protected from copying, feel uneasy about this although i appreciate the offer and would be glad of the help.

You are quite right to feel uneasy, posting the image on here or any public site will make it available to everyone everywhere.

I'm sure evil c has all good intentions and is really trying to help but on this occasion may just have got it wrong (sorry evil ) ....... you could of course PM the image to evil c, that way only he has it.

Rather than edit my last post .......

I had Gimp for a while but found it way too complicated so instead found IrfanView which might not do all Gimp does but does do a lot and is far far easier.

Apparently it will do what you need.

Edit: the link for IrfanView goes through CNET who used to be ok but have plenty of hurdles/boxes to untick these days !! there are other links there ....

Isn't that article about metadata ? I thought the OP had the date showing in the pic and needed some Photoshop magic.

Honest answer = I don't know.

All I can see is that an embedded date on a photo can be removed. Apart from that it's all Greek to me.

When you take a pic with a digital camera, a load of info is stored in it - exif aka metadata. Things like shutter speed, aperture, iso, focal length, and on some cameras GPS location. You can read it in Adobe Bridge and other softwares. This data is often erased when the pic is edited, but if you upload the original pic to a website, someone with knowhow can read all this stuff.

It's kinda interesting the first time you have a peek at someone's data, but the GPS location is a possible security concern for some - think stalkers, pedos etc.

If I read it right, the OP just had the time + date showing and spoiling his nice pic and needs graphics help.

Crumbs, well I suppose the OP could PM me if they like, but no promises mind. I might see the pic and know at once it's beyond me, my image editing software is 14 years old, running in Windows ME compatability mode and very basic. It's not like I have Photoshop or Elements.

I was hoping someone else would volunteer, someone who's good at it (hint).

I'd be happy to give it a shit when I have a mo. I think Tassium is also very good with their image manipulation skills.

It it's just a time stamp on the edge of the pic OP, can't you just crop it slightly using the built-in Windows Paint?

That's what I suggested earlier, but as the OP didn't reply I assume it would have removed to much of the wanted photo.

Also, if the time stamp is over a plain background, it might just be a case of using the clone tool in a program like paint.net (or most other paint programs). Although the chances are it's over a more complex background.

Maybe the 'Photoshop Guys' could post a before/after pic of just the timestamp crop - I'm sure we'd all like to see the results.

* the Photoshop Guys were a bunch of PS experts who made PS video tutorials at Kelby TV, but have been inactive for quite a while. The old vids are still online and worth a look.

In which case, there's advice on that subject here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-ways-...might-want-to/

Just brilliant, the image looks even better now, now watch the wife spend a fortune on mounts for this but she's worth it.

Thanks again
