Since leaving Radio 2? In short, no.

I'm surprised she was never picked up by one of the BBC locals or maybe she decided she'd had enough of radio.

The thing putting BBC Local Radio recruiting Sarah Kennedy is her refusal to play all the stations jingles. At BBC Radio 2 she only managed to play the news and traffic jingles.

When she started on Early Breakfast or Dawn Patrol in the 1990's when Terry Wogan rejoined BBC Radio 2 was she given her own personal jingle played it a few times then thought I cannot be bothered playing this.

I remember the many times Alex Lester used to do his own show and then cover her show because she was sick. On one occasion he came out of the 06.00 news played his jingle and then said oh a jingle played after the news Sarah must not be here.

Alex and Sarah clearly never got on though. In all the years he did the 3am show I don't he think ever mentioned Sarah's show apart from when another presenter was covering.

Didn't she have drink problems, and the word went round she was 'unreliable'?

Yes, apparently so.

I know someone who used to have to pay her a yearly visit at her home to provide a professional service and even first thing in the morning it would not be unusual for her to open the door clutching a glass of wine. Sad really.

I think cough medicine was her usual excuse for being a little woozy.

Well she is 66 so she might be quite happy retired. The Radio Two gig can't have been that badly paid and she did it for enough years to have possibly accumulated a nice little pension.

Apart from her neverending cold, she only had two channels of conversation though.

Foxes banging in her garden.

Roger Royle and his BBQ skills.

If she had a drink problem- wouldn't the BBC have let her go way before she left?
Unless she drank not long after her show finished then managed to just sleep after that to get up really early through the night to do her show? Or is just really bad gossip that she had a drink problem?

Rumors can be unfounded, unpleasant and damaging to peoples' careers, regardless of the industry you work in. In broadcasting, public perception is even more important.

Hence why stories like this one will not make life easier for Sarah:

She couldn't even push a button on the desk let alone play a jingle. She was heavily paid by yet BBC but always was out of the building seconds the show had finished. I wonder if she's still with her horsy boyfriend? I wonder where she's earning her money from. Basically she messed her own career.

"many times" is a complete exaggeration. I listened to SK for about 8 years up to the point when Wogan retired and I couldn't stomach Evans at 7am and I genuinely can't recall more than two or three occasions when Sarah Kennedy wasn't broadcasting and she hadn't announced she would be on holiday. I can remember more occasions when Wogan failed to be in the studio for 7.30 and Sarah Kennedy covered for him.

She sounds perfect for a gig on TALKSPORT. They love this sort of thing.

I miss Sarah. Her show was truly bonkers. Songs could be interrupted at any time by a recording of a cat miaowing repeatedly. That one always upset my own cats. Her favourite topics seemed to run for years. I hope Sarah is enjoying a fun retirement.

She drank.... She didn't drink? Hardly matters drunk or sober she was a better listen than phelps. Sarah followed by terry and Ken were the golden era of mornings on R2.
