Ever met a big hollywood star?
I know there's lots of threads about meeting celebs but it's always Peter Andre/Cheggers/someone from Towie
Anyone ever met a big hollywood star and what did they say to you? |

![]() I did meet James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Brandon Routh because Superman Returns was being filmed there. Not Kevin Spacey sadly. Though it was with a few other people. Routh was very nice, quite humble about being Superman actually. |

In 1972 Deborah Kerr invited group of us fans into her dressing room when she was appearing on stage in Shaftesbury Avenue. She signed every autograph, and posed for individual photo's with all of us. She really was the friendliest star that I have ever met, and the most beautiful too.
That same year I was in the audience at the National Film Theatre when Bette Davis was interviewed by Joan Bakewell. The audience were invited to ask questions, and although I was nervous there was no way that I was going to miss an opportunity like that. So quaking in my shoes I asked her if she would have liked to have been a Director at any time in her career. She glared at me for what seemed like hours, and then snapped "NO!" and then with grin said, "I would have preferred to have been a producer, because I like the idea of bossing all those guys around." She was quite formidable, but could laugh at herself, and mentioned that when she went to Hollywood she heard a producer commenting on her looks, "Who would want to get THAT at the end of the picture!" She also said that they wanted to change her name to Bettina Dawes, she told them, "I refuse to be called Between the Draws for the rest of my career" ![]() My biggest thrill was when I flew to New York in 1981 for a special tribute to Barbara Stanwyck for her 50 years in films. I thought that just seeing my idol in the flesh would be enough, but I managed to get through the security barrier around her to tell her that I had flown all the way from London just to see her. She got up out of her chair, put her arm around me, and said, "Well, after you have come all that way I think that we should have a photo taken together". 35 years later a framed blow up of that photo still has pride of place in my living room. When she held out her hand to say goodbye, I instinctively leaned forward and kissed it. I realise that some of you may not even know of the stars that I have mentioned, but they all had career's lasting more than half a Century. In in this age of Kardashian's and Andre's I am really thankful to have been around when "Star" really meant something. They don't make them like they used to! |

I hung out with Bradley Cooper in 2004, he was a really nice guy. Who knew he'd end up so big back then? I suppose Robert Patrick could have been considered pretty Hollywood when I met him in the same year.

I have a how wonderful is Tom Hanks story. We were living in Chicago, and my wife (my girlfriend at the time) was working on "The Terminal" way back in the early 2000's and he and she were having some general chat while waiting for a scene to be set-up
Asked Tom what he was doing that evening and he said not-much, probably doing his lines for the next day kind of thing and Girlfriend said in a casual kind of way that we were having a party and if he wanted he was more than welcome, in a kind of jokey no pressure thing Very surprised that evening to find Tom ringing our doorbell. He brought a bottle of wine, stayed a good long time. Thankfully none of our friends went mad to see Tom in our apartment and he didn't have to spend the whole night doing selfies (thankfully before that time) |

I've met two Bonds, randomly. Hoping Tom Hardy gets the gig next and my luck continues...
![]() Pierce Brosnan was warm, friendly and more than a little bit twinkly; I felt comfortable enough to do the unthinkable and ask for an autograph for an obsessed male pal. He ended up writing a short letter instead of just an autograph and we had a giggle about in the process. Lovely chap. Daniel Craig, not so much. I was introduced to him as we both hail from roughly the same area. He was gruff, monosyllabic and a bit of a bore; I wasn't a fan before and he didn't do anything to change that. |

When I worked at the Natural History Museum, I was walking across the main hall with a friend when a guy stopped us to ask directions. He was wearing an army greatcoat and a beanie hat, took us a minute ot two to realise it was Brad Pitt. Very polite with beautiful eyes

Some great tales there. Agree with Walter that you can't beat a classic Hollywood star. And Tom Hanks turning up to Dave's party? I assumed that big celebs had 'events' laid on for them every evening.

You're so lucky having Tom Hanks turn up at your party. Seems like a friendly down to earth sort of person.

Was that 2013 or 14 when Pitt was in Scotland. Zombie X was it? I only saw Halle Berry on the news with a huge thick jacket and a water bottle on a wet day in August...
Must be cold in Scotland coming from L.A. That is 30 - 35 degrees to Scotlands 16 - 18?... |

There was a chap walking down the steps from Waterloo Bridge and heading in my direction. From a distance, he looked an ordinary chap that's been shopping (carrier bags in each hand) but straightaway I trigged it was Mel Brooks.
So happy to see him, I greeted him by shaking his hand and rested my other hand on his shoulder (never backward in coming forward, lol). Lovely guy. He was filming over in the UK. This was back in the mid 90s. I had to prove I had met him, as my Dad for a start loved his films. He had a yellow post-it note with phone number on it. He said he had the number written somewhere else. He wrote on the back, Best wishes (my name) Mel Brooks. Met a number of celebs but that's the biggest I've spoken to.
