Build my Gallows High is the title of the original novel, and a line from the film.
Out of the Past is a fairly nondescript title. I'm happy the UK changed it. And it's one of the great Film Noirs. Fabulous cast, snappy dialogue, plot twists galore. |

Nice article on Kirk's birthday party. It seems he's kept a life long friendship with fellow Hollywood golden oldie Don Rickles |

To Each His Own, the film that won Olivia her first Oscar is well worth seeing, as is My Cousin Rachel, and another Oscar Nominated performance, The Snake Pit.
Re- Joan Fontaine. She seems to have a tendency of playing the innocent bewildered female. One of my favourite films in which she starred was The Women (1939) The dialogue is very witty, and along with their acting, I end up laughing throughout the entire film! Quote:
It was going to be four wives, but Joe Mankiewicz cut one out of his final screenplay, so the finished film was A Letter to Three Wives. I should have mentioned that in my recommendations, it is one of my all time favourite films.

Great slideshow of pics spanning Kirk's Hollywood career in this article including what I feel is a really hot and cinematically beautiful one of him with Hollywood beauty Lana Turner. |
