We're on BT at the moment for broadband but we're on Sky previously for calls, broadband and TV.
As our offer period has ended on BT and I'd like to get Sky TV back I'm looking at taking everything back to Sky again.

Really need some advice about the TV side of things and trying to get best value for our setup. Looking on the website there's a lot of different options now.

We have 3 main TV's in the house and there are times all 3 will be being used and watching different things.
2 of the TV's have Xbox Ones connected. I understand that there is a Sky app on Xbox that allows you to access Sky like a set top box would.

My main concern at the moment is being able to all access Sky and watch different things.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sky Go doesn't have all the channels, so you are limited there.

Your best bet is a SkyQ Silver box (SkyQ is the box they sell now) with 2 mini's. The mini's are wirelessly connected to the main box, and you can watch live TV as well as access recordings from the main box, as well as schedule them as well.

Are you referring to Sky Go for watching through the Xbox app?
Also do any of the boxes need to be near the main phone connection?
Basically at the moment our phone/broadband connection and router are in the ground floor hallway. 1 TV is in kitchen also on ground floor. 2nd TV with Xbox One is on 1st floor in living room. 3rd TV also with Xbox One is on 2nd floor in a bedroom.

When we previously had Sky TV the dish was above out front door with the wire going straight in to the 1st floor living room to connect to the set top box.

Does the main box need to be connected to the net or router to then connect wifi to the mini boxes?

The main box needs to be connected to the internet but it can be done over WiFi. in fact this is the method Sky installers tend to use, even if Ethernet is available.

You don't need any of the boxes connected to a phone line now.

That's good because none of the TVs are near the phone line or fibre box and I'm not too keen on having to sort out wiring to connect them.

Do the Q boxes (main and mini) allow all channels to be selected and work independently so the TVs can be watching different things?

Yep, and the mini's can even watch recordings from the main box as well (as well as set them up from the mini box), you can also access it all on 2 tablets/phones at the same time as well.

The mini's being small with just power and HDMI, you can even move them easy enough to another room, if required.

The OP is basically the archetypal household which Sky Q was designed for!

Ok, this is sounding good because with extra boxes they can be plugged into the Xbox Ones and used through the TV throughout rather than using the Sky app.

How is the main box connected to the dish?
Is it still a wire direct from the box to outside?
Now deciding which TV should have the main box.
Also thinking of the range of the wifi from main to mini boxes.

Main box is connected to the dish using your existing satellite cabling (presuming it's in working order). Will require two cables from the main box to the dish - which will need a new LNB fitted.

Wifi strength between boxes will be tested by the installer - boosters are available if there are issues.
