Thoughts On Next Android Tablet Needed
My parents' Hudl2 has expired and I'm going to reluctantly give them mine if I can't revive it (not accepting charge, no signs of life, even with replacement battery).
So that accelerates my hunt for a replacement. The criteria are: - Android - Budget around £300 - Widescreen aspect ratio (I use it purely for TV/movies) - 1920 x 1200 resolution or higher - 8" or bigger AMOLED is a nice-to-have. That cuts down the options quite a lot it appears. The Hudl2 was great, especially for the price, but these days 4:3 aspect ratio tablets dominate. The ones at the top of my list are: - Hauwei Mediapad M3 - not very widespread - not officially released in UK yet? - Hauwei Mediapad M2 (lower res than M3 but £100+ cheaper) - Samsung Galaxy A 2016 - Google Pixel C (WiFi only) - Reviews a bit mixed and not widescreen - nice display though - Nvidia Shield K1 The Samsung Tab S 8" was ideal but getting one of those new from a reputable seller is a challenge. Fire HDX looks good but too expensive. Thoughts welcome on these or others, especially if you have one and have upgraded from a Hudl2. |

Found a Tab S 8.4 so I'm sorted!
I don't mind its age and Android version - it's the one I've lusted after for a while and ticks all my boxes.

A Tab S with HDMI output would be my dream rig. In the absence of such a thing, I'll keep Hudling!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Sam.../dp/B00NFZ2JDI ...but I prefer to cast anyway. What do you want to do HDMI-wise? |

It doesn't block it on my current Hudl 1, which unfortunately doesn't support downloads.
