Have a pair of Monster Inspiration on ear headphones bought in last year's JL sale. They are approx 1 year old so possibly out of warranty and I can't find the proof of purchase. They have passive and active noise cancellation, run from a switch on the right headphone. Tried them last night and suddenly only one of the 2 settings works. When I click it to the other setting, silence.
They cost about £170. I think they are 2014/5 Inspiration model. No voice command, just headphones.
Are Monster US based or what's my best way to find out what's wrong and try to sort it out please? I don't use them much, so they've not worn well. Bought them as liked the depth and range of sound on all kinds of music and they don't leak.

Call into John Lewis and see what they say.

Which setting works? if it is the Active one then chances are whatever power source controls that has died. There is probably a battery somewhere powering a small amp that does the cancellation. If you can find that battery it might be a relatively cheap job to get it back working.

I don't know! I just always picked whichever sounded the best for the music I was playing.
I *think* the one that has died had a bit more bass.
They are big headphones so only used them at home in my flat. Clueless
I will try JL but the headphones I have aren't sold any longer.

I don't think you've answered chrisjr's question, so I'll ask you in plain simple language.

Have you read the user manual?

Have you changed the batteries?

Write a reply here when you've done both. Tell us the results.

Speculating on why some or other feature isn't working when you yourself don't appear to have even bothered to do the basics is a waste of our time and yours. Quite frankly, not checking the battery is akin to calling the garage out to a car that won't start only for them to see that it ran out of fuel. It would make you look like a complete numpty. Do you want that?

Right well having found the manual online for these headphones

https://www.monsterproducts.com/supp...hones-over-ear

there is only one noise cancelling mode - Active. Which can be either on or off. So I would bet a guaranteed winning Lottery Ticket that all that has happened is the batteries have run out!

So all you have to do is pop off the ear cushion on the right earhole to expose the batteries. A pair of AAA batteries is all you need to get it back working.

Many thanks Chrisjr, you just won the lottery! I am very grateful to you for your time and help. I did spend about 15 mins on Monster's US website but it didn't occur to me to look for a headphones manual.
