Madness performing on the final

As well as the previously announced guests, Radio Times are reporting that Madness are performing on Sunday.

Could go one of two ways. If they're just on with a new song it might not be much good, but if they do a big performance of one of their older songs as well (as has happened on the final before) it could be fun.

Another reason to give the final a miss. Scraping the barrel at best.

That might appeal to people over 50 if they play their classics like Must be Love, Our House, and House of Fun. But that's it really. I don't know what else to say.

This show's how far the show has fallen that they are having has beens at their top guests.

Strange choice, more suited to Strictly.

It's like the show is stepping thirty years back in time.

Legends not has beens

Acts like Madness don't need the charts anymore. They have had their time on the charts now mostly they celebrate their greatest hits.

Just because someone hasn't been in the charts for a while does not make them a has been.

They were good in their day, of curse, but that was decades ago. It's like wheeling on Rod Stewart as they have in previous years. They are past their sell by date.

I disagree

I'd rather listen to Madness than Kylie, Little Mix or Weekend.

Music that has stood the test of time

thought it's sad to see Half man half biscuit once again cruelly overlooked

Thankfully she isn't ever likely to make an appearance on the show, we have been extremely fortunate this year to have hardly of her material played on the show. All I can hope for now is that other seasons follow suit and don't have contestants sing her overrated rubbish.

Yes Madness are a strange choice, but would rather them than some overrated r'n'b diva.

Bit bizarre. They only made the cut to perform on Xtra Factor on an early week in 2012..

This is a show that has Motown week you're talking about, it's always thirty years plus back in time.

Madness are brilliant

Madness are still popular, the new album made the top five, as have most of their recent albums
