Did anyone else think this was largely ignored in the boardroom, and on the show. There was a brief chat about it the next morning, but it seemed to be swept under the carpet.

I would've been furious if i was Frances and brought it up a few times in the boardroom. karren in particular seemed to treat it as a joke

Yeah the worst they got was Frances giving them serious stink eye in the boardroom while Lord Sugar was giving them light ribbings about having too much gin, was a bit off imo, I'd have thought that alone would have been a HUGE deal and might have even ended up in a shock double firing leaving us with a final 4 rather than 5.

Completely and utterly unprofessional display of behaviour from both Trishna and Grainne, truly disgraceful.

It was probably why Trishna was so grumpy, she was craving more gin.

He has really calmed down this series generally.

Nowadays, he kind of glosses over the facts and moves on swiftly. For example, years go, he would never have taken Paul directly to task for the way her spoke to him in the BR a couple of weeks ago - e en before firing him.

He's getting on a bit for this now...

I thought it was massively unprofessional. Karren had a go at Jess and Alana for being a bit sweet to blokes to get what they want yet nothing for being hammered whilst doing a task and ignoring another team member multiple times.
I'd have fired both Grainne and Trishna for that.

The inconsistency of the show irks me. A few years back lord sugar told a team off for ignoring customer feedback and a few weeks later praised another team for ignoring

agree both should have gone. The other team used the spit bucket so something must have been said at one point to use it. Did the other team just ignore the advice or could they only afford one bucket ?

I think it's because of their business plans. I really think the lack of firing of some people is not about their performance but their business plans.

Had that been Courtney who got hammered in that room, he would've got fired because i get the feeling AS doesn't really like him. Only reason he is still there is because he has the best winning record of all of them.

I think people like Graine, Alana and Frances have plans that AS love. Why else would Frances be still in after 8 losses? And Alana i think personally will go far.

Trisna is the only one i don't like though, I like Jess, but that's more her, not her skills.

Anyway, I enjoyed that moment of them getting a bit merry

Them getting drunk was appalling. However, probably also exactly what the production team hoped would happen during a task involving alcohol.

While I suspect AS knows the basis of the business plans, I doubt it steers his firings much - Alana is a cake maker with a small range (Sugar doesn't do competing with the big boys) , whereas Trishna's plan for an IT rec consultancy would fit in with the existing Ricky Martin version. Not sure what Grannie's business is, but presumably something to do with make-up, which Sugar hasn't been on in the past.

Actually not true, he later picked up Susan Ma for her cosmetics brand after her series wrapped.

I was amazed they got away with that so lightly, most unprofessional. I really thought one, or both, of them would have been sacked

It was funny to watch but LS should have reprimanded them more for it

A few sips of gin, did they really get "hammered"? - I doubt it.

The whole thing seemed made up for the TV to be perfectly honest!

Largely unexplained.

Trishna hadn't had gin before , so didn't know how lethal it is. She also had a, sorta logical, explanation of drinking it, because she wanted to know more than the first taste.

Grainee though claimed to be experienced with it, and was the one who got most sozzled, and kept on drinking when she realised she was. .

How come one group tasted it ,and the other just spat it out? Did anyone tell them what to do, or not?

And the phone is not explained at all. Karen throws in some silly barb that Trishna should have done something about it. But the phone is the PM's phone . Its Grainee's for this task. So why does Grainee decide to leave her phone outside the room, and not think of it for hours ? surely she could go and get it? And does Trishna even know its not in her pocket?

If someone hasn't told them what to do, the logical conclusion is that Grainee forgets the phone , and doesn't think about relaying the ingredients back even before she is sozzled, and then decides to drink something she knows will leave her soggled in the way that will produce the result, and isn't able to stop. She doesn't seem to have thought about anything much - just accepted a dud name, and the orange colouring , without asking Frances why its shouldn't be coloured. And Grainee is the one still in the process?????

Something seemed slightly strange about the way it was edited.
Frances didn't seem that confused or worked up about it. She said she was pissed off but it felt a strange reaction

I think Frances was just assuming she wouldn't have to react much because that alone would have the firing finger pointed firmly in Grainne and Trishna's direction.

I think had she known Karen, LS, Trishna and Grainne were essentially going to make light jokes about it before moving on she may have made a bigger deal about it.

For all we know, the filming of Frances making the phone calls and the filming of Grainne/Trishna getting drunk may not have occurred simultaneously - in fact for reality TV purposes I think it's more likely they just cut to the most entertaining shots of each
