Malwarebytes releases a product to replace your antivirus software.

https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwar...s-replacement/

With the combination of our Anti-Malware ($24.95), Anti-Exploit ($24.95) and Anti-Ransomware (free, beta) technologies, we will be selling Malwarebytes 3.0 at $39.99 per computer per year, 20% less than our previous products combined and 33% less than an average traditional antivirus. But don’t worry, if you are an existing customer with an active subscription or a lifetime license to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, you will keep your existing price and get a free upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0.

If I wanted paid for protection I would certainly give this a look, I have a lot of respect for the creator of Malwarebytes.

I have always used it in addition to anti-virus software. The thng I like most is that it combines the two main Malwarebytes products which had previously been separate.

Yeah really good, that's why when I look at virustotal when I find things I want to test there I never see it rarely detects new malware, it also does very poorly in tests.

What you probably mean is that it looks pretty? it is not widely regarded as one of the best, just okay.

AV is a changing game. Paid MBAM with Defender should be enough. They need to sort the pricing out though. £40 is too steep.

Just upgraded.

Tried to schedule a scan. Calendar starts at 1901 - that's a lot of clicking. Reported it of course.

Saw little sense in having several programs to download independently of each other so this is a step in the right direction.

No, it's not. Just because you like it doesn't make it good.

It has been for a long time, one of the worst security products available.

It has been for a long while, one of the 'go to' tools for malware removal. So just because you dislike it, it is certainly far from one of the worst security products.

I may be inclined to agree that it's active protection is not worth the price and that the http update exploit took a long time to be patched AND that the new version is still beta in all but name - the update push hasn't happened yet. Thankfully because 3.0.5.1299 wouldn't install due to file locking that required Safe Mode to rename files.

But, for a peace of mind 'on-demand' scanner it's hard to argue with.

Do you mean Malwarebytes or McAfee? Loobster's post was in response to a post about McAfee AV

Haha FAIL. Read posts properly before you reply to them ...

And I've had much worse "savagings" than that.
