This has probably been asked and answered several times previously, so apologies but I've always wondered, at what point do they film 'You're fired'? From how I understand it the series ended filming some time ago so if it's fimed in line with the airing of each episode won't the guest have a massive insight into how things panned out eg finalists etc!?

I once applied for tickets to YF. I got them but, unfortunately, could not make it in the end.

I think its filmed about two weeks in advance of being shown. I'm sure there was some proviso or instruction in the notes to try and not 'give the game away' by revealing who was on the show too early to friends/family etc

It's generally a couple of days before each main episode goes out. The audience get to watch the main show, and then they record YF (although for one that we went to last year they were ahead of schedule so it was the next week's one we saw (getting us a double sneak preview of firings!)

You're right, the fired candidate will know how things have panned out, but they're sworn to secrecy

It was done at the London Studios last year, don't know if it still is.

Thanks... interesting to know, it occurred to me again after just watching this last episode when Trishna spoke about Alana. She spoke very highly of her and although I agree anyway (I've liked Alana from Day One) it seemed to imply she knew a bit more.... think they should avoid asking them opinions about the prospect of fellow candidates, hard to lie when you already know ... or maybe I just need to get out more and not worry about it.... haha

Anyway thanks again

If her response had come anywhere near to giving something away, I'm sure it would have been edited out or re-filmed...

The fired candidates may of course not know the final outcome even though it is in the can - while a lot of them will no doubt keep in touch, the production team may well encourage the finalists to keep the eventual winner secret, so that it's a surprise to the returnees when they come back to watch the final together on the You're Hired show (and just to be extra careful to avoid any loose lips on Twitter and so on).

They often ask the fired candidate who they think will win.

An Alana recommendation from Trishna doesn't have to mean Alana will go on to win. It's no different to any of us saying it.

I've been to You're Fired a few times. It's filmed a couple of days before it's aired. They screen the main episode first then record the YF show.

It's very likely the fired candidates know who the eventual winner is, as many of them feature in the final episode.

There's probably also an after party once the series has completed filming, so anyone involved in the show should know the outcome.

Two endings are filmed for the final and closer to the broadcast date, Shugs chooses the winner.

Out of interest is the fired candidate hidden from public view when the audience watches the main show prior to the You're Fired recording, so as to still make the outcome surprising for the audience? I'd have thought the presence of some lookalike family members in the audience (or overhearing their conversations) might give the game away though.

The thing about 'two endings filmed' I don't get, does that mean the candidates' reactions to winning aren't genuine because Lord Sugar has said the same to the other candidate? (If that makes sense)

A good test of acting skills certainly!

"Alana, you just lost your dream opportunity, can we do it again with more emotion, thanks. You're gutted and distraught, but pleased for Courtney. Take 3, action!"
