Ed Balls could have still been getting massive public support, but been pipped to the 1st with the public slot and been eliminated as a result.

Some of the ones who survived could have been getting minimal public votes.”

The judges are going to give the highest marks to who they think danced best. Ed would have never been up there.

Everyone should just vote for their favourite, at least it's honest.

Gold medal for the longest, dullest, unfathomable forum post ever.

I'm not sure if I am amused or amazed that some are choosing to react/discuss!

Now back to that entertainment programme I love so much on Saturday nights.

I was a fan of ED but that week I stopped voting for him...enough is enough. IMO he gave poor performance and did not deserve to go any further. This is why we need the judges. As I said this is not BB and it should not be left entirely to the viewer.

Why are you worried about Claudia...she's not going to get knocked down by a bus. Her and Ore are the weakest dancers left and one of them is likely to go...with their head held high I may add.

This is a bit of weekend fluff and is not meant to be taken so blooming seriously. The winner is not going to be running the Country

At this stage of the competition, I don't split my votes anyways . They're ALL going to Danny and Oti tomorrow and hopefully that'll be enough 🙏🙏🙏

As for this week, those stats are mind-numbing. Suffice to say that the jooodges will do their utmost to stuff up claudia by placing her last 2moro.”

What possible reason could they have for "stuffing up" Claudia ? This is what I don't understand about these conspiracy theories. Are you saying they will deliberately undermark her, if so why ?
Unless they've all clubbed together and bet heavily on Danny or Louise winning.

The couples at the top do not need your vote to survive with the present system. In many ways you could say the public are being conned into voting for already extraordinarily safe couples. Telling the public not to waste their votes on already safe couples by not even putting them to the public vote is an honest thing to do.

This also focuses the public's attention on the couples that actually need your vote.”

For the first few weeks the public's favourite is incredibly unlikely to go out and people at the top can still fall into the DO if they are unpopular enough (Abbey Clancy did almost a full leaderboard drop). If, later in the competition when they have all had a chance to learn, someone who is popular with the public but a bad dancer can go that's fine, because there is still a competitive dance element to the show - it's not Big Brother or I'm a Celeb.

The only aspect I have a problem with is the dance off as it gives the judges two bites of the cherry - get rid of that and the scoring system itself is fine (if the judges applied the rules equally to everyone, didn't have favourites etc.). You need a combination of good dancing and popularity to win, with priority being given to public vote in a tie, which is as it should be. What I don't like is if someone with a lower combined score is saved by the judges over someone with a higher one, as I suspect happened with Lisa/Austin. It's the existence of the dance off that's the problem.

I know that I shouldn't split my votes anymore but I like both Danny and Ore so I will give them both some votes. Danny will probably get more.

Easy. Just remind the judges they have paddles numbered 1 to 10 and not to be afraid of using the lower numbers when appropriate.

No to it becoming a popularity contest.

Word.

Also, it took me while to realise that the OP is a humongous troll. It really makes me long for the likes of TerryM22. At least he was amusing, not boring.

No matter how the general public vote tonight, it is almost certain either Ore or Claudia (or both) will be in the dance off.

Although a bit of me would like Danny and Louise in the dance off (just because they had an in built advantage of being good from the start) anybody voting honestly would have to put those two through to the final. But- I expect a lot of viewers votes for Ore and Claudia tonight, simply because their fans know a vote for them is crucial in deciding who gets to the final (and an inevitable 3rd place)

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it is Louise, plus Ore, or Claudia in the dance off-as in votes piling in for O & C, but not enough to put both Danny and Louise in dance off.

whatever happened to terry? he helped keep the board and its denizens in perspective...

i know he annoyed some people but its not exactly like the board is a richer, warmer, healthier place without him....

Don't worry.

You've already voted (even if you didn't realise it)

I think he ran away with Ann Widdecombe. They are reported to be sharing a crofters cottage on the Isle of Mull.

I had to reply. Anyone who puts such a gobsmacking amount of work into a post deserves some sort of response. He's our very own Sheldon (for any Big Bang Theory fans) and quite fascinating in some ways.

Based on some recent interactions, I am sure "Terry" is another alias of a very active poster on this board but I'm keeping my theories for myself...

It is not honest because the biased system makes it very difficult for a public favourite who is at odds with the judges opinion to survive a week.

In this week, the bottom of the leaderboard couple will almost certainly leave the show EVEN WHEN THEY ARE SECOND WITH THE PUBLIC. That is dishonest. It is also dishonest for the 1 in 6 chance that couple has to face of leaving the show when they are the public favourite.

Also the presenters keep on telling the public they have 3 votes. If people split their votes in some ways that can have a negative effect on their lowest ranked favourite they have just voted for. The presenters need to be honest with the public and explain all these things.

As we've long since known....

Strictly viewer logic = "The public are voting in this rubbish dancer instead of the good ones, the judges must have more power!"

But strictly viewer logic also = "The judges will keep in the person I don't like over the one I vote extensively for, the public must have more power!"

Which one you adhere too depends upon where your current favourite lies. Louise and Danny fans are probably going to favour the judges vote, Claudia fans the public vote and Ore fans will just hope something unexpected happens/he's amazing and he gets through (come on Ore!).

I think the issue is simple - scrap the public vote totally and results have to be done all in one night (screw competing with X-Factor, SCD has a 4.5m head start) or keep the public vote have it all one night, but the public vote is equivalent to one judge.

Stops bad dancers like Rinder and Balls succeeding, cuts down fanbase votes and everyone wins. You might get a bland winner, but you can count on the judges.
