I think it's Lacey Turner's inability to act a normal part. Just painful to watch her attempts to act a happy and normal character.

Waste of character putting her with martin

They're really wasting her character by making her a normal, happy-go-lucky family person.

I like Lacey Turner, but she can't act as a normal, family person.

Stacey Fowler is one of the best things to happen to the show in years and this is the most natural progression we've probably ever seen.

Spot on. After having a horrific childhood she appreciates having a normal family life with a man who loves her and this comes across on screen. Stacey has lost so much in her young life and she must have wondered if she would ever have a normal life. I can remember her telling Bradley that was all she ever wanted.

This. Since recovering from her psychosis and marrying Martin, she's a calmer and more grounded character. It's what the character desperately needed and she's all the better for it. Long may it continue.

Can't stand her. Never could.

I agree - and it's so refreshing to have a character like that on the show for a change.

Hear Hear, And I used to loathe Stacey. I'm glad she's finally grown up into a more pleasant young wife and mum.

It's called character development and I agree with many posters' opinions. EastEnders is a continuing drama show and the character needs to move on and it is refreshing to see her become one of the most mature characters in recent times. Stacey has always wanted to settle down when she was with Bradley but I wouldn't want her to return to her old self.

Pairing her with Martin was a stroke of genius and Lacey/James work well together and I was so pleased when she and Martin finally got married and she is now part of the Fowlers. I'm excited for their future and there's plenty of ways they can throw some normal, down to earth drama in for the family this Christmas. It's ten years since Pauline's death and the beginning of Stacey's postpartum psychosis storyline. We know Max will return to EastEnders this Christmas and he'll always be involved in Stacey's life and apparently Martin isn't too fond of Max's involvement with Stacey over the next few weeks. How will Stacey react when she inevitably find outs about Jane's involvement in the Lucy cover up and Max's arrest.

Plenty of 'realistic' drama for the Fowlers.

I like having this solid old fashioned dynamic and I wish they never bothered with the Stacey/Kush storyline because it regressed Stacey, however, she has redeemed herself.

I agree, I never used to like Stacey at all and now she's become one of my favourite characters, I find myself rooting for her. Love her and Martin together

They've made her seem stupid by keep revealing secrets. First telling Martin about Bex and Shakil doing it and not realise Martin would care that his teenage daughter was thinking about sex. Then telling Mick about Jane and Ian's sex life. Her being a stupid blabber mouth is annoying me.

The problem with Stacey is the acting. TPTB have the right idea mellowing her out and writing her as nicer and more mature because the endless dramas and unpleasantness was becoming a chore to watch.

But Lacey Turner is just so 2 Dimensional. She plays nice Stacey as syrupy and gormless. It's a complete U-Turn from last year's 2 Dimensional performance as horrible and sour. There's never any shading or layering with Turner so it doesn't play out like character development, just a character who has a personality transplant from completely unpleasant without any redeeming qualities to completely sugary without any edge. She isn't believable at all.

I also wish she'd tone down her constant gurning, but at least there's slightly less nostril flaring at the moment. If only they'd paired the very naturalistic and believable James Bye with a better actress.

Did you watch Lacey Turner in Our Girl? Don't you think Lacey Turner can act?

I agree and don't ever want to see a return to nasty homewrecker miserable Stacey. However, this is EE and no one's allowed to be happy/stable for long!

B.I.B. Yes, it's quite off-putting and looks very unnatural for her face to be like that all the time. She looks as if she's in constant pain. I mean sure, seeing Ian naked in the bath would make anyone wince, but she needs to develop other facial expressions.

For years FM have criticised Stacey for being miserable and never smiling and now threads criticising her for smiling.

I feel exactly the same.

I'd had enough of Stacey by 2010. I found the constant dramas wearing and really hated the way she was presented as a heroine in her last months, having killed a man, in her 'right' mind (by Santers offscreen and her onscreen admission) when he posed no immediate threat to her, had an affair with another married man and then had virtually everybody conspire to get her away.

I hated the thought of her coming back but was pleasantly surprised that they had her appear to have growm up a bit by taking responsibility for killing Archie, even if only for a short time befire pleafing mitigation. But I accepted they had to do that to get her back.in. I liked how she was over Dean and then with Martin and the friendships with Shabnam, Linda and her being there for Kat and Alfie.

Then they regressed her with the Kush stuff. And I thought that was it for me, character dead as interesting or sympathetic.

But they've pulled it back this year and I can believe Stacey could develop like this. Not be so geateful to Martin that she stays with him because he stood by her when she wss sick and discovered he wasn't Arthur's dad. But because that experience made her see him for the good, reliable man he is and fall in love with him for it.

I really like Stacey now and think Lacey is playing it fine. Yes, Thursday was a bit gurney but it was clearly done for comic effect. How was she meant to convey her disgust, anxiety, fear, horror at getting Ian out of the bath without using her face?
