Neighbours: Characters You've Loved / Liked in 2016
Now that Neighbours is on its annual break, I thought it would be fun to see which characters everyone has loved/liked/enjoyed this year.
The poll is multi-choice and will feature all the regular characters, and all the major guest characters (I will leave out Dimato, as I think he's universally hated ).

The only character in 2016 that I loved in Neighbours was Paige.
![]() I did like Toadie, Karl, Susan, Piper, Brad and Lauren as well. |

Poll is up.
See, that's Neighbours fans for you: someone always likes a character that the majority hates - namely, Brad! You must be a rare guy PDS1985.

Gary and Piper seem to be the most popular new additions this year.

I like some of the characters but Steph is all-time favourite character. It appears she is not popular here.

I love Steph, too, but I can see why she isn't overtly popular so far. I certainly preferred Steph last year, before she was paired with Mark and became so insecure. I miss the feisty strength she used to have.
Meanwhile, no-one likes Jimmy. Harsh. |

The show does have a strong cast overall. But, I do think they have cast some duds this year, and that's reflected in their popularity, like Elly, Madison and Angus.
I would have thought Kyle would have more votes as he used to be a popular character. Someone has given Jimmy a lifeline I see. I chose not to vote for Paul, as I haven't really liked him this year. Hotel Wars has made him super unlike able again, and that story was so dragged out. Stefan Dennis does play him well, though. |

I always liked Steph but I haven't voted for her as her return she just isn't the feisty woman she once was and pairing het with Mark is just awful.

I don't know whether it's me or the show that's getting old but I don't think there's been anyone since Donna whose leaving would break my heart, so I'm abstaining.

So we've forgotten that she's had a complete mental breakdown or three, been jailed etc. etc, have we? You think she should have come back and been the old Steph we used to know? I trust that the suggestion that Mark is the cause of her insecurity is merely poor phrasing on your part, at least!

I have only watches since summer, but haven't got into this soap as much as most of them. The writing is so bad and cringy sometimes. My fourth least favourite at the minute (bar EE, Doctors and Holby City.

Yes, the writing can be bad at times, but worse than HO?
Shame you started watching in the summer when the show wasn't that good. You missed Josh's death, which was one of the saddest death I've seen on a soap. |

Piper and Tyler for me have made the show this year. Mavournee Hazel really is just a brilliant talent and manages to steal any scene. This pairing has to have been one of my favourite soap couplings in a long time and without them i may have zoned out ages ago.
Although i've hated the writing for them since they broke up i still really like Paige and Mark as well. Paige has had some terrible storyline twists that have made the character very hard to like at times and positively infuriating at other times but underneath it all the character is still quite decent and that shines through. It's a shame she seems stuck in a loop with Debbie downer Jack. Similarly Mark's in the same boat, he seems to have had all the life zapped out of him by misery guts Steph's self pity parties. Even though they have become a bit of a chore to watch with their new found 'perfect' partners, away from them i still enjoy their characters. Susan's always going to be a favourite, her association with Elly does her no favours though. I'd love to see her in some bigger storylines next year. I gave Ben a vote as well. I like Ben he's just been used as Xanthe's handbag lately and it's got very repetative. Aaron has improved so much as well since he first arrived. He's another one that deserves some meatier storylines next year. I miss Nate. His exit was so random and quick. ![]()

This years stars have been:
*Aaron Brennan. (Easily one of the most likeable and hottest characters) *Ned Willis. Massive impact on the show. *Gary Canning. (Strangely endearing - similar to Joe Mangel) *Hilary Robinson. (Always steals every scene she's in - classic) *Nell (For exact reasons listed above!) As always: *Susan. ❤️ *Sheliagh ❤️ *Karl. ❤️ Could do without: *Father Jack 💤💤💤💤 will this storyline ever end?!!!!!!!! *Ellie (Completley unlikable character - Martha one of my all time faves in H&A) *Paige (One of Neighbours best characters in years ruined by this Father Jack shite) *The Tanaka's. Slightly warming to the smaller one. Very slightly.....😱 *Sonya's selfishness towards Toadie is bound to come back and bite her on the bum. Sanctimonious and irritating! |

![]() It would be easier for me to name those I don't like since I love most of them. Terese, Paul and Piper get my 2016 vote this year. |

Hotel Wars has made him super unlike able again, and that story was so dragged out. Stefan Dennis does play him well, though. I was hovering over whether to vote for Paul, like you - what I loved about him earlier in the year was more overshadowed by his ridiculous Hotel Wars with Terese, which dragged both of them down and made Terese totally forget she has another daughter. I ended up voting for Paul in the end, because I love how Stefan Dennis plays him. I've really enjoyed Amy (probably because she's my replacement Naomi, who I still miss), Amy's friendship with Aaron, and Piper. I think Mavournee Hazel's been a fantastic addition to the cast, even if I don't like how Piper behaves sometimes and don't really appreciate the 'Typer' (Piler) relationship, I think Mavournee acts her really well. And I love everything Rebekah Elmaloglou has given us with Terese - especially her reaction to Josh's death. Toadie, Karl and Susan are solid likes for me too. Susan has seemed less annoying and interfering this year (Sonya currently has that baton). Nell is probably my favourite cast member! She and Bossy should just have their own spin-off show!

The cast is exceptionally strong at the moment. Gary, Aaron, Amy and Therese are my favourites. I wish Naomi would return, she would slot into the household perfectly,
