I have often wondered this too. Surely all the BBC cares about is high ratings and they get that no matter the winner. Yes the producers might manipulate things to make the competition seem closer than it is - overmarking, music choices etc - but they're doing that so the audience keeps watching to see who wins, not to generate the winner they want. What difference does it make to them if Claudia makes the final over Ore?
I agree that they tweak things to create competition.

But I also think they overegg a contestant when they know they are very popular - to make it seem 'deserving'. Louis' 'breakthrough' Charleston which was apparantly fantastic and he showed character - yeah right.

And even last week when they went on and on about Claudia's ten, which they they delivered in spite of what was on the screen.

And Danny getting two tens for that scrappy dance.

I would agree except Jay was very popular last year and the final was anything but an 'overegg' in his favour.

That was interesting actually, and there have been other occasions - Tom Chambers for one, but it's not exact, and I think it does happen.

Perhaps they thought Kelly actually had a chance.

Tom's year was very odd because we knew the public vote result from the semi final so the final was very much a foregone conclusion.

I do have to wonder whether the production team and judges were fuming and Jay and Aliona not reprising the Jive in the final so dealt them a harsh hand in response. The final was hard work to get through last year; I'm hoping this year is much lighter and more enjoyable for all involved.

Not any different than Ore getting three tens for a VW with a third spent spinning on the spot with the wrong head position and barely any in hold. Even Darcey commented on it but dismissed it because he was 'cute'.

I remember him wanting it to be good, don't remember him 'trumpeting' his brilliance and I meant life changing for those that loved it so very much rather than the dancers themselves.
So you never heard him carping on about wanting to do a better jive than Jay then? If he'd just wanted to be good then that's fine ... that's what they all want I imagine but he created a storyline for himself ... and guess what ... Len indulged him and Darcey inexplicably found her 10 paddle in week 4.
Your point is that Jay's jive was nothing special so why was Ore bringing it up then? Why say stuff about a competitor who's not even competing in your own series. Concentrate on trying to be better than the people you're actually competing against and you might not find yourself in another dance off.

That just fits in with what I think. Early on they were positioning Ore as some competition for Danny, it did him no favours at all. (And most of the dance was excellent).

I thought it was a heavy compliment to Jay, personally and demonstrated how Jay's dance had impressed him massively and inspired him.

Is that blowing your own trumpet?

Or admiring great dancing and hoping to emulate it?

Grasping at straws here.

I heard him talking about it, sure, carping on? Not so sure. It was Len who really ran with it. And as Jay's had been considered one of the best jives in scd history it seems reasonable to mention it.

And I don't see him mentioning anyone else's dances for weeks. But I may have missed something?

In Ore's eyes Jay's Jive was the ultimate Jive & he would love to reach that level of excellence.
Danny by week 4 hadn't done a Jive so there was no bench mark for Ore, so he had no option but to use Jay's Jive.

I see nothing wrong in trying to beat a certain score or try to better a dance, it is a competition after all

I liked Jay's Jive, I loved the music as that is what made the dance great. I adored Ore's Jive, not only the fantastic choreography but also the way Ore sold it

Makes a lot of sense.

And why should he not be competitve? AJ and Claudia stated they were both exremely competiive and not a peep but poor Ore gets a shitstorm.

You never know, if they knew Kylie in Argentina, they may not want to dance to anything else It's a pop song, but it's staccato and may be better suited to AT than other songs we have heard for their respective dances, yeehaw!
