I have to say his performance in a Lust for Life was fantastic and also in The Bold and Beautiful which i think was one of his best performances

I would say The Bold and The Beautiful too, although you're right about Lust for Life also.

I have a soft spot for Spartacus, have to say.

I was never a big fan of his to be honest, but I can't deny he gives great performances in the films you mention.

For me, it's a toss up between Lust for Life and Spartacus. In terms of acting, it doesn't get much better. One of the things that made him really special, though, is that he was equally good at beefcake roles. I will never tire of watching him as Einar in The Vikings.

No reason this couldn't be in the existing Kirk Douglas thread.

And it's The Bad and the Beautiful (clearly, it made an indelible impression!!). The Bold and the Beautiful is a terrible American TV soap.

I guess that you mean The Bad and the Beautiful, that is certainly my favourite.

Haha! - yes I did

Isn't the Bold and the Beautiful a daytime soap in America?

ETA: I just saw the above correction. I was posting at gone 3am, I was tired!

Yes, it was a Soap, and an easy mistake to make at that time of the morning.

He was terrific in Joseph L Mankiewicz's A Letter To Three Wives which won the 1950 Oscar for the Best Screenplay, and Mankiewicz won for Best Director. It was also Nominated for Best Picture, a marvellous film which is available on DVD.
