Office Christmas Party
The film offers nothing different from everything else you have already seen. T.J. Miller and Jason Bateman play the roles of Seth Rogen and James Franco. Rob Corddry plays the role of Danny McBride. Throw in Jennifer Aniston and Kate McKinnon (who I am quickly getting annoyed of after loving her in Ghostbusters) and you have a typical raunchy comedy that is at least 20 minutes longer than it should be. At this point, I would like congress to pass a law banning more than 1 cast member from Saturday Night Live from appearing in a film because 2016 has been a terrible year for Saturday Night All Stars. When the best part of your movie is Olivia Munn, you should have saved the 45 million dollars and did literally anything else.

It's not terrible, but casting four character comedians in the lead roles is a really bad idea unless you're going to give them lots of funny dialogue. They just aren't good enough at physical comedy to carry off all the slapstick and business without having some funny lines to say whilst they're at it. I mean, fart gags? Those four have an average age of 40, not 14.
The plot is silly, the sheer wanton destruction isn't so much shocking as disappointing, and the reliance on recreational drugs as plot-devices is tiresomely unoriginal. The girl collecting tickets said "You're going to love it". Sadly it's just not that kind of film. Funny, yes. But not lovable. |
