Yes but illegal downloading doesn't count towards the charts anyway. Yes streaming like Spotify which you pay to just listen to a song but there are ways I'm told to get round actually paying at all. The hormonal teens must sit all evening and weekends listening to the same songs over and over again. That's why Drake was No.1 for 15 weeks this year and Justin Bieber had several No.1's in a short space of time last year too. If you don't do loads of streams these days you've no chance of a high chart position.

LOL at your points about schoolkids. Most won't know either what an LP or vinyl single is.
I am sorry but you don't know what you are talking about. Spotify offers unlimited streaming for £9.99 a month so you are not paying for just one song. Also Spotify offers a free version where songs are interrupted by adverts and you are limited on how many tracks you play in a month. The free version doesn't require any trickery like you are trying to suggest.

Whatever, I wouldn't use it or any similar counterparts. iTunes is fine for me and all I know.

That Jo Cox tribute will probably be a big contender
100% agree with this now, especially after reading this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-38293156

Last year the NHS Choir single managed to sell 127,340 to top the Christmas chart. I don't think it received many stream sales.

Likewise, I can see Jo Cox's Friends benefitting massively from all the TV/newspaper media attention this single is going to get next week.

I reckon Jo Cox's Friends might even sell closer to 200k next week.
