Football or the In Laws

I've been known to shop on the odd occasion there's something we specifically wanted on sale.

Watch football, get drunk, eat lots of Christmas snacks and cook up a roast. Having beef and Yorkshires on Boxing Day this year.

1. Make lentil soup from the cider the Christmas gammon was cooked in

2. Slice up leftover gammon and turkey

3. Walk down to town with the dog to watch the Boxing Day hunt set off (don't agree with it, but I love to see the horses and hounds, and it's a very social event)

4. Stop for a pint or 3 on the way home

5. Have lentil soup, cold meats, salad and bubble and squeak, in the company of whoever fancies joining us

6. Eat chocolate, drink alcohol, snooze and watch telly, to an ambient soundtrack of lentil-induced flatulence.

The name stems from the good old day when apprentices demonstrated their skills by making boxes, which they then carried around looking for donations

Well it's my mum's birthday on Boxing Day so we usually go out for a family meal to one of the cheaper chains but this year it's her 75th birthday so we have booked a nice pub lunch for us all as part of her present.

Watch the football on Sky, take the dog for a walk so as she can show off her new tartan coat she is having for Christmas, make a buffet dinner/tea with the left over turkey and beef joint I'll cook Christmas night, pickles, stuffing etc, 'cause it tastes nicer on Boxing Day somehow.

MrKat is not working Boxing night, so we'll probably watch a film or see if there is a comedy on for both of us to enjoy, curled up under a blanket with new jammies on, just a nice lazy day for both of us.

These days they are on all year round, most shops have some items on sale throughout the year. Sales are nothing special these days in my opinion.

How very charming of you. Do you laugh at injured animals too?

Sleep ridiculously late, watch the football, make "burgers" from the leftover pork and apple stuffing for lunch (brunch), watch more football, have a dinner consisting of cold meats (some leftovers, some done specially) and various buffet-style accompaniments, then recline the sofa and catch up on some of the Christmas Day TV while grazing away on Quality Street or Roses or whatever.
