Tony does a Saturday night show on Thames/Dragon 6-10pm

A clash of shows on a Saturday for Tony if he is doing his usual show that day.

Fantastic news. Why a day early? He's not listed for Sunday?

What welcome news to hear.

A fitting return. I hope he begins his first show back on the BBC since POTP back in February with the fittingly clichéd line - "and before I was so rudely interrupted" or words to that effect. The New Year's Eve show is a really warm feelgood show with sensational dance music and unlike almost anywhere else he's actually there LIVE.

Why go out!

EDIT; This is not technically his usual New Year's Eve show if it goes from 8pm and ends before midnight strikes.

..and just a reminder that it'll now be available via Freeview to a much greater part of the south of the UK than was previously the case.

Tony's show on Thames/Dragon is a pre-record but done as live, usually on a Tuesday/Wednesday at KMFM so likely he'll be on at the same time.

I agree Rich Tea this soul show is a great listen on New Years Eve,

I think this may have been a late decision to bring Tony back a day earlier than planned, hence the different time slot for the show!!

I think this is such a shame if this time is correct, it would be so much better if Tony was on to see in the new year, I wonder if the show after between 11pm and 1am is live?. If not it is such a poor show not having a live show on at midnight to see in the new year.

Tony has been an excellent must listen over the last few years.

Yet to be announced what the show will be called. Tony will be live on radio 2 from fridays in the new year between 7-8pm and back on BBC Berkshire every Friday mornings as well as BBC London as said, KFM, Greatest Hits, Thames and Dragon Radio.

As much as I like Tony, I'm wondering what sort of music he's going to play in this spot. To be honest I've been really enjoying Leo Green with sounds of the fifties. Will that carry on in another slot? I wonder what Tony will be playing in that hour.

I really wish he was coming back to Pick of the Pops. I can't stand Robo-Paul.

I would have a punt on classic soul.
Agree with comments about Leo. I used to love listening to his old man back in the day

Yes, and Leo did the Sunday afternoon shift on Jazz FM for a couple of years, he was good on there too

Sounds Of The 50's is an occasional series on Radio 2 so I'd expect to hear it back in the Spring, albeit in a different slot, probably back to 10pm Monday evenings.
