Have not been there myself but my daughter has done the "season" many times, and will continue to do so, she calls it home.
![]() Another place that deserves a mention is a camp/lodge in Karnataka, in the "jungle" run by a lovely family. You awoke in fully equipped apartments, to the sounds of monkeys, etc in the tree,s nearby. Meals were served around a campfire. I cant remember the name of it though, as there are many others.

Venice.
Simply stunning. Try ambling along the lesser known canals at dusk or dawn or on a Sunday morning when the church bells are ringing out - ideally with someone you love. There is no one in my life at the moment so Venice is on hold till I can make new memories.

Have you ever carried on a bit further when you've been there and been to the Llanberis Pass? My favourite part of Wales, and fairly easy to get to for us from the West Midlands!
MrKat has promised to take me there in the summer to watch the sunrise, I imagine that it would be so beautiful https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ll...w=1280&bih=619 .i normally go north, i might start at the top and work down when the season starts next year. |

I don't know Wales so much, or Snowdonia. Certainly the M62 (Manchester-Leeds) and Snake Pass (to Sheffield) can be scary and beautiful.
Visited my Grandma on the Isle of Arran a few times, when she lived there. Some stunning walks, not all difficult. Just a couple of mile saunter up and back to the car. |

Just in case anyone doesn't already know:
Wikipedia has articles about most of these places, often with some excellent photos, for example Glacier National Park, Montana: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glacie...al_Park_(U.S.) YouTube has videos made by visitors, some excellent, some less good. For example, here's a good one (Cheap Family Travel: Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gmHtVSgnkQ&t=47s StreetView mode in Google Maps allows you to explore places, and it includes some of the trails in the US national parks, for example Zion National Park, Utah: https://goo.gl/maps/Ei3weXEYMH62 (To turn or tilt the camera, drag the image. To move, click the image.) |

I have been very lucky as I have seen two of the most stunning places I have ever seen this year:
First was Lake Bled in Slovenia. Stunning Alps as a backdrop, and a beautiful turquoise glacier lake surrounded by lush primeval forests in centre stange. Second were the Silk Road cities in Uzbekistan: Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva were unforgettable - have never seen such amazing architecture |
