I went many years ago, we were actually the only people on the beach for the day
Another place that deserves a mention is a camp/lodge in Karnataka, in the "jungle" run by a lovely family. You awoke in fully equipped apartments, to the sounds of monkeys, etc in the tree,s nearby.
Meals were served around a campfire.
I cant remember the name of it though, as there are many others.
Venice.
Simply stunning.
Try ambling along the lesser known canals at dusk or dawn or on a Sunday morning when the church bells are ringing out - ideally with someone you love.
There is no one in my life at the moment so Venice is on hold till I can make new memories.

i remember going over that in a car when i was a child, i was scared half to death
.i normally go north, i might start at the top and work down when the season starts next year.
I don't know Wales so much, or Snowdonia. Certainly the M62 (Manchester-Leeds) and Snake Pass (to Sheffield) can be scary and beautiful.
Visited my Grandma on the Isle of Arran a few times, when she lived there.
Some stunning walks, not all difficult. Just a couple of mile saunter up and back to the car.

I have been very lucky as I have seen two of the most stunning places I have ever seen this year:
First was Lake Bled in Slovenia. Stunning Alps as a backdrop, and a beautiful turquoise glacier lake surrounded by lush primeval forests in centre stange.
Second were the Silk Road cities in Uzbekistan: Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva were unforgettable - have never seen such amazing architecture
