Jesus how cold can people be, this forum really cease to surprise me. Shows what kind of world we live in.

The majority of us didn't even take notice of what he was wearing, seriously what kind of mind frame do you have.

As a 36 year old managing director that you claim to be (although I seriously doubt that's true tbh), it's quite concerning how you can claw into someone 10 or so years younger than you who has just lost his mother. I would have half expected your comments from a 15 year old teenager but seriously, coming from an adult like yourself (was going to say mature but you really aren't worthy of that title) makes me think what kind of rotten individual you are.

I'm no 1D fan by any means but it's simple his mum had a dream for him to become a solo star, she was looking foreword to his performance then tragedy struck. Louis as part of a tribute to his mother did the performance she wanted to see him do.

In these circumstances I will give that guy a standing ovation 100 times out of 100 whether I like the song or not. ”

How have I launched a personal attack on Louis Tomlinson when I'm just commenting on a thread somebody else started. I said his song was tat, which in my opinion it was. I guess one redeeming feature is that he was at least better than Honey G.

Some people handle grief by throwing themselves into work. There really isn't a wrong way to handle it.

I thought the performance was very weak I'm not going to lie. The vocals were flat and off key, the dancing was nonsensical. It all came off as rushed and unrehearsed in a Britney VMA Meltdown kind of way. I understand why and I don't fault him for it. I do question his management though, promise or not, to let that be his big solo debut when his headspace was justifiably not in it.

Putting any thoughts on his performance aside, what I did find a bit much was Simon's little speech. It wasn't necessary, Louis looked uncomfortable and I think that would have been better done in private, rather than on live TV. I am sure his words were sincere but it did come across as the programme cashing in on very obvious grief.

@ Drew Hatch We must have watched a different performance. It didn't sound flat or off key to me, it sounded pretty perfect. He has a sweet, raspy tone and he hit all his notes -- incredible under the circumstances. I also thought his performance was fantastic and uplifting. Steve Aoki who is a massive presence on the EDM scene seems to think he's pretty worthwhile too. I agree it was obviously unrehearsed - it was just a spontaneous performance from the heart and how rare is that on the XF? No special costumes and he didn't dance. No backflips or hackneyed moves or little twirls.... I view all that as a blessed relief personally, but we dont all like the same things do we? As for his management allowing him to do it, its very clear he did it for his mother, not for his career. And as it turns out its gained him a truckload of admiration and respect.

Both my friend and I felt the same when we saw it last night

I agree with this, he made Louis cry, but I dont think Simon can help himself. He sees the promo opportunity in everything.

It was absolute crap. Well done for him getting up there and doing it after his mother has just passed away. That really does take some guts and bravery. Also, as a person I'm sure he's lovely. However, it was an absolutely awful performance and the boy cannot sing whatsoever.

You're a poster on a prime celebrity gossip website and you had no idea that his Mother had died when it's headline news and the subject of a lot of threads. I find that very hard to believe with the greatest of respect.

This, 100%. But fair play to him and he obviously wanted to do it in memory of his Mother so I think we should cut him some slack.

Totally disagree. But as I remember I always did. (Disagree with your absolute declarations of What Is Crap and What Is Good that is ) I'm actually full of admiration that you're still here. I bailed out years ago.

It was strange, but the boy will still be in shock. The first few days after a death, your head's in chaos.

This. I had a my best friend in my hometown die from a sudden brain aneurysm just two months ago and it was the first death I'd experienced. It definitely didn't hit me in the way I expected it to.

Sorry to hear that. I think it's almost like a numbness to start with - nature's way of protecting you, I think.

Yes - totally agree. The week after my mum died I spent a lot of hours crying but also a lot of time feeling absolutely nothing - I think I had just shut down. It hit me massively a couple of months later - when the reality of it really struck home.

Louis looked like a fragile, vulnerable young man last night and my heart went out to him. What or how he sung seemed irrelevant.

Even when his mother's just died DS still doesn't cease being vile.

This X Factor Forum is a cesspit of negativity. Disgusting really.

Thankfully, if you look through there has been humanity and people defending the poor lad, but overall horrible people who don't want to take a day off.

Sorry to hear of your loss too... and yes, when you've been through it, you have empathy for another bereaved person.

I found nothing wrong with the performance personally, big ups to him and Steve who put on a good show last night. It cannot have been easy, what a brave guy

instead of reiterating your (nonsensical) point why dont you read the thread? numerous people have already explained that it was his mums dying wish, would you fulfil your mums dying wish?

It's one thing to not like the music; it's another to incessantly complain about him performing just after his mom died.

PLEASE.
STOP.
TELLING.

Exactly. If it helps him, then good foor him. He had his supporting band mates there, and maybe it made him feel a little bit better to see the whole audience stand up and cheer for his mother.

He should have cancelled and grieved in private , it's not even a charity single so it's just a money spinner.

Dancing around the stage like a maniac beaming away was tactless it was like he was dancing on his mothers grave.

He can grieve whichever way helps him the best. If it's by dancing around a stage like a maniac, then he needs to do that. He's not harming anyone, but trying to dictate suitable ways to behave when grieving can actually be really harmful.
