Its another sign that the producers can't decide who they are aiming at, The Weeknd is current and popular with teens, then tonight they go and get two old has-been acts, Madness haven't had a hit for decades, and Kylie is a legend but milking last years Xmas album for a bit more retirement money.
But you are right, TPTB don't seem to have a clue who their target audience is and just end up pleasing no one |

It was the perfect antidote to Bruno Mars' inflated and self indulgent performance a few weeks ago.....The Weeknd just has natural coolness oozing out of him.

I think he's far more than "an acceptable vocalist". He was clearly having issues with his in-ear monitors last night (the venue's acoustics did nobody any favours). Yet with no bells and whistles whatsoever, he still delivered what was far and away the best guest performance of the series.

Madness have never been my taste but they are touring at the moment and played The O2 last night so there is definitely a fanbase out there.
Regardless of that, Madness are still one of the best selling groups of all time (UK) I did love The Weeknd's voice. I've not heard him before but he has an amazing voice. |
