He cites his Afro-Caribbean heritage as the reason for his homophobia and those attitudes are depressingly common in the West Indies, so laying it all at the door of Islam is rather unfair in his case.
The thing about that remark of his, is that he seems to choose the reasons for his prejudices to suit. He says all his life is guided by Islam, but then falls prey to his old Afro-Caribbean attitudes?

It's nonsense on stilts.

He's unreal. I bet he condones 7/7 and 9/11.

I'm glad the other housemates are balanced though.
I'm glad too - decent people that happen to be of Muslim faith need to accurately represented instead of the image every one has of them being the likes of Abdul!

"As a Muslim I reject human rights"

Ridiculous attitude.

Having said that, I do find him worryingly extreme in his views.
He's made one comment about being Afro-Caribbean. He's made several "anti-everything" comments in the name of Islam.

Defend it all you like, parts of Islam make it the most oppressive religion on this planet. I'm just glad not all Muslims follow the extremist garbage.

Do these people ever talk about anything other than their religion? Television, sport, music, film, theatre, gardening?

That Abdul Huq guy is the problem in this day and age, you have a room here full of friendly everyday people who happen to be of Muslim faith and then you have Abdul creating his own over the top version of the faith!
I don't know much about Islam, but I suppose Abdul is the Muslim equivalent of a very strict Christian such as a member of the Exclusive Brethren or the Amish. The programme needs someone with his sort of views if it's to show all shades of Muslim opinion. I personally don't like some of the things he's said, but he's entitled to his views.

The whole point of the programme was for them to come together to show how they thread Islam into their lives in their different ways.

The voiceover made this clear near the beginning of the programme,

So here we have the people in the room showing genuine hurt and upset like everyone else about terrorism and Abdul doesn't give a toss for those that were killed in Nice! Oh yes this guy is prime candidate to carry out a terrorist attack somewhere!
why isnt he and those like him banned, what about people like him spouting their views

Yes, he'll be like those "Christians" you get in America that gang up on homosexuals and ladies using abortion clinics and apparently yelling at little kids that santa doesn't exist! Every faith definitely has it's extremists!

Not sure what the question is but I don't agree with extremists of any faith.

Ah, just had a quick look and see what you mean - agree with you entirely, any dangerous faction should be banned, I always got angry when I saw footage of the extremist Muslims protesting in Luton and being threatening about our way of life! Yet they did it without any penalisation!

It slightly disturbs me that this guy is considered dangerous enough to have his passport taken yet he is still free to brainwash people - I just hope he isn't brainwashing the Arab lad!

Charity doesn't solve inequalities. It's not unique to Islam either. In fact it is built into Islam as a duty, so it's not from the heart is it?

My guess is that many do it from the heart anyway. You shouldn't need religion to make you good.

Are you actually serious?

This is a link to the currently banned terrorist organisations under the UK Terrorism Act:

https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...ite-update.pdf

There are 70 banned organisations listed, 14 are to do with Northern Ireland, the rest are Muslim and now ONE far right extremist group has been added.*

*I should add that I have not actually been through and double-checked that every other group listed is Muslim, so there may be the odd anarchist group thrown in - does Bader Meinhof still exist?

Honestly, people go one about black and Asian people 'playing the race card' but the amount of "Oh look how white people are discriminated against" which has absolutely no foundation in truth gets pretty tiresome.

He's not exactly the most persuasive person ever though, is he? Even the other Muslims disagree with him (apart from the stand up comedian who seems more ambivalent).

Didn't know such a list existed - good big list too.
