Matt was AWKWARD last night

Did anyone else notice it, or was it just me?

His part in the Class Of XF 2016 performance was a cringe fest while he didn't seem to know what to do during his duet with Nicole. Maybe nerves got the best of him last night but it was cringeworthy to watch.

He is as wet as a haddock. Weak reedy voice and zero stage presence. How he even got to the live shows is beyond me but X Factor will get the winner it deserves.

Can't really blame the lad for being nervous given his circumstances and that he was bottom two last week. Why are people so desperate to drag people who seem perfectly nice down? Does it make them feel better about their own lives?

I'm not a Matt fan and I would have preferred 5AM in the final but I don't see why that means I would want to be mean about him.

It's not being mean. It's something I couldn't help but notice watching last night's show. What circumstances? Every one of them has been bottom two before - Saara has been three times!

The more I see him perform, the more I don't see the appeal.

Fortunately he has Nicole. Her vocals during the duet, her whipping up nationalistic sentiment against Saara and ability to pick the best song for him tonight will see him win easily.

It's not a balanced approach though. I'm pretty neutral about everything and try to assess things on their merits. They all put on in some good moments. God knows I'd be nervous in that situation. It's better to have empathy.

I thought that too. In the VTs he was really sweet and cute, and then on stage he seemed a little scared and like he wasn't all that comfortable. During Purple Rain especially he was like a deer in headlights. He started strong enough, but then got reduced to a spare part when Nicole came to steal the show.

But that's if it was nerves. Personally, I just don't think he can command the stage and being in an arena exposed that.
