I opted for eight as I think it's not perfect but has been entertaining. The improvement in dialogue, characterisation and pacing have turned the show around.

I voted for 9 - I think the show is on fire at the moment, and I'm actually really looking forward to the next episode after each one - it's not just throwaway sensationalist crap, it's real and its the most relatable to the audience its been in years in my opinion.

It's grounded once again with characters you can care about and who have regained their identities and personalities. It needs a little more 'oomph' but hopefully Christmas and New Year will see to that. |

4/10.
If it had a gripping storyline or two it'd be an 8-9 easily, because they have a largely solid cast and some much improved characters/characterisation. |

Right in the middle bang average, I suspect with Christmas fast approaching it will want to make a statement so I expect improvements by then

I would give it a 5/6 right now. It needs at least one compelling storyline that people will actually care about and won't want to miss.

8/10
I look forward to each episode and I haven't easily done that for nearly two years now. The characterisation is on point, as well as the little attentions to detail and nods to the past. The show feels much more real now than it has for a good few years now, I no longer feel like I'm watching a soap, I now feel as if I am there watching these characters, watching them live their lives, it's great to have the realism back. The lack of spoilers is very refreshing and it's good to see that the Christmas/New Year period has not been hyped up to the eyeballs and it looks very promising. All of the storylines are bubbling away nicely, and you can tell they are leading to something, such as Lee being found out and Shakhil possibly having a BDD storyline because of Friday's ending. November was an okay month, a bit flat, however September/October were two brilliant months which had some lovely moments and seemed to be real turnaround from the disastrous Grant return storyline. It's also nice to see Julia's Theme being used properly, rather than exclusively for exits, something Kirkwood overused it for. It's not perfect, some of the storylines are a bit flat and low key, however hopefully in the next few weeks the pace will really pick up and the show will properly be on form. Overall, an enjoyable soap to watch that I find far more engaging and thought provoking than the others.

I'd give it a 8.
Very good, but room for improvement. EE tends to be a bit more uniform than Corrie - whole episodes tend, apart from that Friday when Lee's mates robbed the Vic, to be much the same quality and in my opinion, under the last two EPs, even on at its worse EE is more watchable than Corrie. I have just realised that is because there are fewer EE characters that I'm ambivalent to or actively dislike. EE tends to have fewer stories that require the characters to suddenly lose lots of IQ points to work - morals yes, intellegence no. I'm also picky - the only series on TV ever I'd give 10/10 to would be The Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Planet Earth 2. Unless it's a BBC nature documentary narrated by David Attenborough (ie perfection), the best a show will get from me is a 9. Even the best shows will have the odd dodgy episode, something I disagree with or unbearably annoying character. |

I've given it 8. There's been a few episodes where I'd have marked it higher but there's also been a few where I'd have given as low as 4. Max's return is going to be a big test for me as well as how they handle the three big exits coming up.

7/10.
Characterisation is on point, something that had been absent for a few years. I feel like I can care about what happens to them more now than what I ever did; they feel more real. The show has ditched the sensationalism and grounded stories. The show is watchable, and I actually want to watch, again. But, some episodes can be slow to the point of being dull. Not every storyline is engaging me. There does need to be some bigger moments happening in each episode, even if it's character moments - not everything has to be big plot twists, just something that's more than just regular stuff. I'm also not a fan of the repeated plots: Ian hurts his back and Kim breaks her arm at the same time; or 4 characters celebrating their birthdays in one week. |

There are characters such as Shakil, Tina and Donna who I am indifferent to, but I can cope with them being around. |

For me I'm over the whole Max thing now, it feels like it's been going on forever. But it wouldn't make sense if he turned up, gave Ian and Jane a big hug and totally forgot that they stabbed him in the back. I don't want Max to suddenly come back rich either, I think he is a character who we need to see work for his redemption. He might have been innocent in killing Lucy, but he made serious life choices that enabled him to be put in that situation in the first place. I do like Max, but the continuous sex stories have made me a bit board of his character. He does need to find a new role in the square, something a bit more interesting than his sexual appetite. |

6/10 - Above average but it's finding it's feet a little bit.
The issue it has is consistency. I know it's the same for every programme, but for one to two good episodes of EE, you get four to five bad ones. The past few weeks it has been flat bar the robbery at the Vic, Denise coming to terms with the baby and Phil and his effects on his family. I also do applaud them for the workplace bullying with Lee, but even that has turned 180 and he got his bullies to steal from his family, so he could have a share yet they conned him out. Christmas does look promising, and I think Max's return will make an impact but I am frightened it'll go two ways - a) Max back to being a man whore and b) He gives Jayne and Ian a hug and all is forgiven. R+R have annoyed me, but it's been more Jack's controlling of Ronnie via the back door. Ronnie is a killer, she should kill him off. I do hope R+R fleece him and don't die. The show could be in a worser rut - look at Casualty. |

A week or two ago I would have said a 4 or 5, I have now given it a 7 in the poll. I am still upset at some of the exits but I do think the writing and characterisations have improved vastly, something DTC totally neglected. I still think the clear out of cast was not required and am yet to be convinced that SOC is the messiah some on here seem to think he is.
Thanks |
