Seems the majority are classing the show as being in a good place but with room for improvement. Thats really positive to see.

I would also like the Butchers to become a force on the Square again and maybe a new upper class family in Ronnie's house. The cast feels a bit threadbare at the moment and an influx of new characters would be good as DTC did strengthen the cast during his reign.”

Bib that's what I'd like to see too but on the whole I'm really enjoying what I'm watching.

Yeah I'd love a meaty affair between Johnny and Steven with Steven struggling with his feelings for both men and women.

Eastenders isn't great on bisexuality to be honest. .

yes it is really great to see- seems that it's only the minority (on here) who are really unhappy with it!!

I voted 7. I am enjoying the show and think it's in a really healthy place overall. Characters are generally acting like real people again, sensationalism has taken a back seat for good old-fashioned storytelling and character-driven scenes, and despite the multiple exits, the show actually feels very settled and easy to watch.

I think there are a couple of key issues the show needs to address (mainly the lack of crowd-pleasing 'big' storylines) but I am willing to give SOC the benefit of the doubt until his new storyline producer, whoever that may be, has settled in. I do think it's likely that SOC has focused on just getting the exits and the Christmas period over and done with before introducing any big new storylines so I expect to see a more exciting and headline-grabbing (for the right reasons) 2017.

My only really big issue with the show is the current situation with the LGBT characters. EE is trailing behind the other soaps in this respect and it needs to get better. No excuses, it just does.

Spare a thought for the writers who must deal with multiple minefields, most of them involving cast members' contracts or life events.

I do wish that the inevitable default shocker wouldn't be a pregnancy. Once upon a time there were a few babies (some of them have been kept on as characters) but the square has long resembled a creche with pointless scenes and pointless dialogue to match. Even worse, the writers must constantly include lines to explain the whereabouts (usually the absence) of the children.

'Where are the kids?/What about the kids?'
'Oh XXX is watching them'
'Can't stay and have an adult conversation that might interest viewers - have to put the kids to bed'

Apparently the school day in Walford lasts approximately 30 minutes as kids in uniforms are spotted out of school at all hours of the day. Illness, bunking off, half term, sent home, etc etc etc

A camera shot of a pregnancy test stick is dramatic once, maybe twice but it's almost as common as a shot of the Queen Vic sign these days....often combined with frantic hide-the-test pantomime.
