I take it you're a fan of J-Hud?

So are you telling me my parents are not really into music? Because my dad loves singers like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin but wouldn't know who J-Hud is.

Just because you know who she is, doesn't mean half the UK population will too.
Yes, I like Jennifer Hudson, and the people you mention are all great artists of course, but from a bygone era.

If people in the UK don't know who Jennifer Hudson is then they are not really into music IMO.
My days. I'm into music. I make music and play two instruments. Jennifer Hudson isn't on my radar at all. I know that one song she did. She seems like a good singer. But I don't know a single mate who would know who her, the majority of whom are musicians themselves. Next you'll be saying you're not a fan of music if you don't know Fleur. It just gets more and more insane every single post.

Everyone knows who the gorgeous Jennifer Hudson, she was in the Nightmare Girls thingy that made those awful wrist slitting dirges "I'm telling you" & "One Night only", which have been done too many times on the X Factor.

But needless to say some people like her & she will be a bit of eyecandy on the voice.

Fair enough if you are not really aware who she is, but she has sold millions of albums, and has a huge following across the world.

I’m one of those who did bother, purposely. I wasn’t prepared to watch a show full of filler. I may catch up on the songs themselves today. That being said I just watched the Matt, Nicole duet which was amazing. She made Matt look ordinary.

Oscar winner too! After Dreamgirls where she sang and out acted Beyoncé who was using the film as a star vehicle, she should have become a huge international A lister up there with Beyoncé and Rihanna, may be bigger but she isn't which means she's not getting the right songs or acting parts.

I think you're assuming that people are quite preoccupied with popular music. I do know some which is mostly from The X Factor. But there's an entire scene of music that I mostly listen and to and most of mates do where Jennifer Hudson just doesn't come up. But they're deeply passionate about music. This obsession with sales is some bizarre nonsense that I've only seen on here. It's like with super lame diva competition. Why would anyone care? Just love what you love for what it is.

The vast majority of music that I listen to is jazz, soul and r&b, so has little baring on most of what we see on XF, so I wont disagree with you regarding those points.

Spotlight was an absolute tune that was played everywhere and she's never hit the musical heights since.
These days Jenifer is better known as an actress than a singer and her material hasn't been anything to write home about.
Looking forward to seeing her onTheVoice though and think her series of American Idol had the best talent on a tv karaoke contest ever

If you've stopped watching it, then why are you moaning 200 times a day about how bad it is with the ability to comment on precisely what's happened on the show? Seems like you've seen the show... . They can't have Fleur on every year, you can't punish them for that.

Its never going to go back to its former glory.last good year was when James Arthur won.ever since then its been going downhill rapidly.when you compare it to SCD ratings its just embarrassing.people were saying "you dont still watch that ? 'In work.all Cowells fault for ignoring what the viewers wanted.

Last nights X Factor got about a million viewers in Finland. Which is pretty good since Finland has just 5,4 million people.

That's crazy. No wonder the massive turn out for Saara, then.

How low must the ratings fall before they call it a day
For a show thst costs millions to make, that rating is beyond dire. It used to get 16/17 million, but ten million have gone as they know it's fixed, and the judges are so old for a teenage market. I feel sorry for the five million who did watch.
Not surprising really with the poor standard of the finalist.
Agree
Ratings are deceptive in the world of catch up and recording live TV.

Not great numbers by any means but I'd say the total figure would at least be closer to 7-8 million

Strictly/I'm A Celeb/Bake Off/Planet Earth still own their ass though
But SCD does well, Michael McIntyre beats it, Planet Earth beats it, and XF catch up is poor. XF with live voting is typically aimed st people who watch live. When the votes have closed what's the point?

I assume Simon will add that to try to get somewhere closer to his made up ten million viewers.

Not much competition in other channels at 10pm in Finland so that explains part of the high viewership, but it is still a respectable number. For a comparison a Voice of Finland in last spring got about 1,3 million viewers at best.

For how many weeks have they been showing it live in Finland.

I assume they leave it undubbed with Finnish subtitles

Shocked by high the ratings are in Finland, considering it is on so late. Maybe the X Factor Tour should be heading to Helsinki?

The show has had it's day, they can't even seem to get A-list performers on a Sunday evening anymore

That means that the winner is being chosen by the same viewers who have watching all along, not drop-ins who only watch the final.

Only kids cartoons are dubbed in Finland. Everything else is subtitled. Are singing contests dubbed somewhere? How does that even work?

Only semifinal and final were shown live. Rest of the series was shown on two weeks delay.

I've posted elsewhere that the reception Saara had in Helsinki plus the ratings won't have gone unnoticed by Simon and we should expect more top acts from other small population countries in future series. Like BGT, Simon may want to turn XF into the Premier League of singing shows where international acts battle with the top British ones.

The ratings in Finland are impressive but at the end of the day, ITV won't care much. It's not like they get any advertising revenue from the Finnish audience.

Its surely reaching a point where the budget will be cut, they can't keep laying out millions for the judges for starters when the 5million or so viewers that are left are pretty loyal and would probably tune in for a 'cheaper' panel of judges anyway.

Personally I don't think the show has ever fully recovered from Simon, Cheryl and Dannii all leaving the show after its most successful series ever.

In 2010 One Direction, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson & Cher Lloyd performed with Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Will.I.AM and Robbie Williams to an average audience of almost 18million...although the audience was always going to dip in the catch-up/streaming era, it took a massive fall in one go and its been downhill ever since.
