Lots on Amazon and eBay. Try Nook, Kobo etc.

However, you need to think what format the content is and whether the device supports it.

When you say backlight, do you mean like a LCD screen that you have on normal tablets or mobile phones or do you mean a E-ink screen with a backlight that can be turned on and off?

E-ink is like reading from paper, but most are monochrome, in fact i have not seen a colour E-ink screen for a while, E-ink take less power and is easier to see in daylight, but at night you do need a light and some do have a back light.

Kobo have the HD glo, around £109 or the Kobo AURA for around £114, Kobo uses the Epub format by Adobe, I have had a Kobo for years and I love it,

Amazon have their Kindle Kindle Paperwhite which also have a light built in, they uses Amazon own format,

both formats got a load of books, but I prefer the open source Epub>
Best to have a look at Kobo and what books they offer and Amazon at their kindle library .

E-ink is better to read than a LCD display if reading for a long amount of time.

...Epub format by Adobe...
I'll be really pedantic and point out Adobe have nothing to do with the epub format development. It's been handled by the IDPF since becoming a standard in 2007 and stemmed from an earlier format (OEB) that was handled by the Open eBook Forum.

I'm more of a fan of epub files for developing. It's really not difficult to get epub files onto the Kindle, though.

Maybe they prefer to read and not play games!

The kindle paperwhite is £105 at the moment, its great, solid and any book format can be converted the kindle format using a free software app called calibre.

If I bought one now I would go for a high end one like the voyage - budget wouldn't be an issue because these devices are really well built and will last for ages if properly cared for.

Tablets are heavy and the back light is not good for eyes if reading int the dark for too long. also tablets are more heavy on the battery.

That is true, you are correct, the light is just under the front glass. I forgot about that.

I myself have never used a e-reader with a light, my kobo do not have one I did think about getting a new Kobo with a light, but I have managed without one for a few years.
