I wouldn't say she nailed it at all. I hated the skirt swishing too. I thought it was one of Louise's weakest weeks. But it wasn't mum dancing. People underestimate the work put into a routine.

I was responding to your comment that she had reasonably good technique (I shouldn't have said 'nailed' ), rather than agreeing with the previous post about mum dancing . The judges seemed to think she nailed it though . Or did they? ![]() ![]()

Well spotted Louise is almost just marking it on the spot there.

Some people (especially the judges) keep going on about this dramatic transformation we've seen in Louise, from shy wallflower to confident and exuberant but I just don't see it. I see barely any difference from the overly controlled dancing and awkward grin of her Flashdance routine to this Samba.

I am not underestimating her work or the amount of effort that she put into it but, to me (and that's only my opinion) it looked ridiculous. Granted it wasn't her dance and she did what she could but I just thought it was embarrassing.
(I think when you learn to dance you have to forget about what is and isn't embarrassing. Otherwise you'd never try anything! : So I tend not to think about it from that perspective.)

Neat feat, but somehow sluggish and laboured. Kevin overdanced and made her look worse than she was too.

BIB. Absolutely not - especially when they have two dances in one week.

Or did they? ![]() ![]() ![]() The samba hip action you are referring to often wasn't much in evidence (e.g. In the whisks at the beginning although it was there in the locks later on). I thought she was much better when she was in hold with Kevin Yes, I think she was overmarked this week.

I agree. Poor thing came across as being very awkward. Not very wag like at all.

If you have a look at this video, from 3.30 on Kevin starts doing batucadas and Louise is doing something very different.
Samba was always not going to be her dance she is too reserved for it - but they had no choice as their only options for second dance was salsa or samba unfortunate either so late in the series for them |

Sorry, I wasn't having a go at you! Samba is jusr very difficult. I didn't find it embarrassing. It just needed further development.
(I think when you learn to dance you have to forget about what is and isn't embarrassing. (I'm not sure embarrassing is the word I'm looking for but I can't think of any other right now) |

I didn't like BOTH of her dances last night but the Samba especially, it lacked hip action and bounce, and she looked stiff and tense.

It is also very obvious that it was choreographed that way - louise marked the spot Kevin traveled round her

Kevin covered for Louise by over-dancing, putting in a showy batucada section for himself whilst his partner was stepping in place, and finished with a few extra moves for himself and a closing spin. I was having flashbacks to Giovanni and Laura's Week 7 Bamboleo Samba at times. ![]() But to be fair to Craig, he called out Kevin on the over-dancing (as he did Giovanni in Week 7). |

i thought the styling of BOTh louise's dances was dreadful, and samba wasn't her best, but she still has very good feet, probably the best in the competition. might not be the biggest, showiest, loudest in the comp but her footwork is really lovely.

Considering she was a judge on a dance show, I'm surprised how Claudia eclipses her in the technical and presentation departments. As much as Len would like us to believe, Louise has had a head start on Claudia but it doesn't seem to show.

It was a boring dance & who decided it would be good to dress her like a cockatoo?

If this was Claudia she will be crucified with 8's and 7's... I still don't understand this Samba was a mark higher than Claudia's Rumba?

It was the same old Louise. Almost a journey for her but not quite. Too precise technically and she couldn't express the soul of the dance. Her movements had enough quality to be expressive but they said little. Not over marked though.

It was boring as heck, and she look embarrassed to be doing it. That dance was worth 7s or 8s at best.

Nicole Cutler, who knows what she's talking about, liked it.
https://twitter.com/nicolecutler/sta...72741696573441 Although, as commented earlier, I agree it was lacking in performance. |
