Indeed - lots of very positive qualities and what seems to be a thoroughly nice bunch who have achieved a great deal. Maybe this is what some find hard to stomach.

Beats me.

Yeah - but fair enough though - it's the Cliftons after all!

Here's the dance in question. If you can even find Kevin's parents in there then you've got sharper eyes than most...

When it's argued, lots of the 'reasons' disappear in a haze of nothing.

I think it's just that he doesn't appeal on some nebulous personal level to some, and that, along with partnering NOT favourites of many here, has led to some sort of ACCEPTANCE that he can be trashed.

And many just enjoy trashing and go as far as possible with it, backed by enough others to feel safe about it.

It's pretty much completely irrational, and when you dig, as I say, there's really not much there to convince.

loved that routine as a bit of trivia and totally off topic the little girl in orangey/pink very blonde hair at the start of this won the nationals U/16 in both Latin and Ballroom in Blackpool the week the show was there - how times moves on

It's group think among some posters on here. It's become their reality. Free world and all that. What it isn't is a widely shared view.

I tend to find the Clifton bashing threads boring but there are some great replies and here's one! Love the bib.

You won't find Kevin's parents in any Strictly dances. Apparently they are too busy helping the judges choose their paddles for displaying after each celeb dance and overseeing the counting of viewer votes. There's only so much they can do...........

I will not comment on the Clifton's but what I will say is that I am sick and tired of F/M's calling other F/M's trolls acting like they are the Forum Police. That is the Mods job.

I whole heartedly support this.

I'm not a particular fan of Kevin but the more people bitch and moan about him, the more I want him to win.

I'd agree with all of this. Karen is a kooky show-off and I find her amusing but appreciate that she might grate on others. She's my favourite Clifton; Kevin I can take or leave and Joanne I don't much like but I can see she is an excellent dancer. None of them deserve the level of abuse they get here.

I must say that the more the bashing goes on the more votes I'll chuck Kevin's way .
Also I work with around 35 women and a few men and I did a straw poll among those who watch Strictly regarding Cliftonophobia . No one actually cares . Not one had anything negative to say about them .

The hysteria tends to be among a little group of persons who tend to catch whichever dreaded lurgy of dislike is doing the rounds within their tight own little group . Then they kind of get latched onto by an occasional passing poster and try to out do each other as to who can impress with the most vitriolic (disguised much of the time as 'humour' ) ranting . Lots of little 'in' jokes and winking and "wanna be in my gang" stuff . Kind of like little boys having a pissing contest to see who can piss the furthest .

Ann do keep up, the judges are the Clifton's parents. Didn't you hear Kev on ITT confirm what we all suspected: Bruno's his dad

I think this could be a very worthwhile position to hold.

Think of the fun and laughs we could have!

We are three now!

With Kevin, it very much depends on who the celeb with him is. Jo irritated me a while back, for spurious reasons no doubt, but I admire what she has done with Ore and some of her choreography has been lush.

I can't help feeling that some people just have to have a target upon which to vent their spleen. Without it, they seem to have little genuine interest in the show or don't appear to watch it for any actual enjoyment. Frankly, if someone dancing was ruining my enjoyment of the show, I'd give my head a wobble or else just switch off and watch the trash on the other side, where all the genuine PITAs are .

I could understand it more if any of the Cliftons were nasty, obnoxious or unsupportive of other dancers or contestants but the fact is that these are simply not accusations which can be leveled at any of them - hence the very lame and false nonsense which is routinely trotted out instead, on threads like these.
