I was out running earlier and came across a tenner on the pavement, I picked it up but now I feel upset with myself for picking it up and unsure what to do.

If you hadn't picked it up someone else would have. Go and stick it in a charity box if you feel that bad about it.

Depends where it is. If I was in a building (e.g. work, shop, etc) and found a tenner I'd hand it in. If I was outside and saw someone drop the tenner I'd give it back to them.

But if I saw a tenner on the pavement and no one was around I'd probably take it. Who would you hand it in to?

If I saw someone drop a tenner I would hand it back to them, if it's just isolated in the street I'd pocket it to help with my big overdraft.

Unless I saw the person who dropped it then it's finders keepers. Next stop, bar. Hello beer!!

Be positive, it was just £10, it could have been a £20 note and you'd be feeling even worse. If it wasn't this you'd probably find some other reason to feel bad about yourself. How many life forms did you stamp all over and kill whilst you were out running?

Take all the other tenners out of your wallet, put the new one in the middle, shuffle them, put them back in your wallet

Now you don't know which is the tenner you found

guilt eased.......

It depends whether I see someone drop it. If it's just laying there I'd keep it. If I saw a pensioner drop money I'd give it back to them and I hope others would do the same. I remember a really snobby woman looking me up and down in Euston station with a judgemental look and she dropped £10 so I picked it up when she moved to get her train and yes I kept it. If finding money bothers you then you could give it to a charity via a charity shop on your nearest High Street. I remember a kid on the estate where I live finding £20, she shouted "money!" Bless her.

Would he have enough left for a packet of scratchings?

If I found a £10 note, the only options would be to keep it or donate it to charity (I would probably keep it and not feel guilty).

If I saw someone drop it or I knew who it belonged to, that's a different story. Not giving it back would technically be stealing.

If it's in a wallet, I would hand it in at a police station so it can be identified.

I always put any money I find in the next charity tin I see although the most I have found is £5.

Probably give it to charity - but I have the paranoid gene - which would make part of me want to let it lie in case flashing lights and sirens go off and a tv reporter steps out and
starts interviewing me about why I am so evil that I would steal it.

In cases like that where it's orphan cash with no identifiable owner, I keep it but donate at least a tenth of the value to the nearest charity box - sorted.
