It's been a big year for the show with storylines such as Aaron's Abuse, Belle's Breakdown, Ashley's Demenita, the exploration of Lawrence's past and Chrissie's revenge taking centre stage throughout the year among other big storylines.

The show has also shocked us with 'bolt from the blue' moments such as Tess being killed by Kirin back in February and Holly's sudden death this autumn.

So from January 2016 until now, on average what would you rate the show out of ten? One being abysmal/shockingly bad - couldn't have been any worse, and ten being outstanding/incredible - couldn't have been better etc

I have set the poll to close this time next week, as I thought it would be interesting to calculate and see the average score that you guys have given the show

Some of us only watch ED so haven't gone on the threads for the other soaps. If it can be done for the other soaps it can be done for ED.

There where plenty of good storylines but the pacing of them were real downfalls.

Can you not cope with a number and a half? It's really not that difficult Lea everyone else has managed...

I was waiting for this to pop up after all of the others.

I gave it a 7.5, though that was perhaps a tad generous, based on the massive improvement in recent months.
The Belle breakdown, Holly's return, redemption and death, everything that happened at Home Farm, Ashley's Dementia, and bringing the Barton's front and centre have all been major highlights this year.

Points were deducted for some predictable stories (Aaron's abuse), unconvincing couples, over the top humour that mostly missed the mark and a dip in quality over the summer aside from Holly Barton's story.

An 8 from me; its a great soap and I love the look of it. The pacing and the sillyness needs correcting though; then it would easily be the best soap

Misread the thread, on second thoughts as we're basing it on the entire year and not recent times it would easily be a 7

I gave it a 9.5 - deducted half a point for what Kerry has become. Her plot to sue the factory is silly and is the only bad point in a strong year for Emmerdale.

Highlights include Ashley's dementia, Belles' breakdown, Emma's revenge on James and the highway crash, Aaron's abuse, the history at Home Farm plus many more.

I said 7 like Corrie. Corrie is better recently but if you count months not weeks then Emmerdale.

It's not the same without Deborah the queen of the dales, When she comes back I'm sure I will rate it above 3, She's the star of the show
