Unfortunately my medication isn't always kind to the mind and it tends to wander at times.

EastEnders, Emmerdale and Neighbours for me.

Corrie, Emmerdale & Eastenders for me.

During my school days I used to also be a regular viewer of Neighbours and Home & Away before they moved to Channel 5. However, the older I got I just kinda lost interest in them (and this was all before the Channel 5 move BTW, the channel switching had nothing to do with it).

Doctors, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

I'm fairly new to Emmerdale and ex viewer of Eastenders. Haven't followed EE for several months.

Red Rock is the most gripping soap on tv

I can't remember a time when I didn't watch EastEnders and Neighbours. Coronation Street and Emmerdale I grew into, as in I chose to watch them without family influence, and have never missed for a very, very long time now. Home and Away and Casualty were both on when I was a kid, and I picked them up later on myself when I began to watch most other serials. Never really missed any of them for at least the past decade.

I can dip in and out of Hollyoaks fairly easily, depending on where it sits on the scale of mildly entertaining to excruciatingly painful. I watched The Bold and the Beautiful for the majority of the 2000s period, and dipped back in for about a year a couple of years back, but it's difficult to keep up with not being on UK tv now, plus it's changed so much I'm not sure it's really the same show anymore. Without Stephanie Forrester, what is the point? Was also a regular viewer of River City about ten years back, I stopped pretty much when the two-eps-a-week became one. It wasn't in the best shape at the time and the hour seemed more of a chore. I gave up Doctors around the same time, I think I watched it regularly for what must have been more than a year, not that I remember any of it. It wasn't very exciting.

I've tried them all at one time or another, aside from Pobol and Archers, their differing formats don't appeal. I could get on board with General Hospital or Days, but I don't have the time. I tried Y&R back in the day, and have yet to find a duller, more lifeless show. Forty minutes of people talking about nothing, over and over. I found that odd given how vibrant Bold always was. One I've tried many times to get into but can never quite is Holby. Always found it so uninviting to new viewers, there hasn't been anything to reel me in.

Eastenders only for me, though I do tune in for big episodes of other soaps (I watched the big Emmerdale week in October, but wasn't that impressed)

EastEnders and Emmerdale.

I also voted for Corrie and Hollyoaks even though I miss chunks of both, especially Corrie.

I stopped watching them all for a while with the exception of Casualty and just caught up with Holby bc I was sick and at home for a week.
I watched a few weeks of Corrie so I know what is going on but am missing a chunk between a little after Kylie died and 2 weeks ago.
I watched EastEnders but stopped around the same time as Corrie and the posts here are not enticing me back

I'm probably watching more at the moment than I have since my school/college days, mainly due to not commuting for the first time in about 25 years and being at home a lot more.

So, currently, I'm watching EE, Corrie, Emmerdale, HO, Holby City, Neighbours and Home and Away though Emmerdale tends to be on the Weekend omnibus. I did try to watch Casualty again but find it so crap it's tough to sit through so tend to have loads recorded and not watched.

Why I watch the ones I do. Habit and loyalty I guess. I've watched all of them since I was a child/early teen (Corrie, Emmerdale) and all the others since their first episode. But rputine is a huge part of it, as doon as I have to start taping a lot of it, I lose interest in wayching unless it is hood. That's what happened with Brookside, Prisoner, Neighbours, H+A, Casualty at points in the past. In that respect, the 'big 4' are just lucky in that they fit my lifestyle in that those 2 hours are when I want something on that I enjoy but don't need to concentrate hard on as I prepare dinner, sort washing, iron, tidy etc. I doubt I would have kept watching them during low spells if they weren't convenient.

Holby is probably theonly one I make a real effort to see, recording it every week, including the signed repeat if necessary.. and that is because I think it is very, very good. It has highs and lows of course but even the lows ate pretty good compared to the other soaps lows.

Palmolive and Wright's Cold Tar. But I find concentration difficult. I am easily distracted by shower gels.

Eastenders.

Used to watch Brookside many moons ago. ITV soaps are far too spurious for my liking

EastEnders (every episode) and Hollyoaks (although I frequently miss episodes), and I've just started watching Holby City as I'm intrigued by the new pairing of Dom and Isaac.

What are your opinions on Emmerdale? Emmerdale are doing a really good dementia storyline at the moment.
