Soap characters who aged appropriately and (mostly) avoided being soras'd

I'm curious, how many characters on soaps have we seen being aged up appropriately with little or no to aging up the characters? Obviously characters that were born on-screen.

I think Sarah Platt from Coronation Street was born on-screen, left for a few years but she appeared a lot through the years and was never SORAS'D? I believe Sarah's daughter Bethany was not aged up either.

Ben Kirk from Neighbours has been aged up only two years but it is a very little change, and he has been off-screen a lot but it sort of counts.

Does the soap opera rapid aging syndrome occur mostly in American soaps and less in British and Australian soaps?

Tracy Barlow - can't think of any instances where she was SORASed.

Same goes for David Platt and, as you've said, Sarah Platt.

Nick Tilsley is still meant to be his 'canon' age, but the casting of a much older actor has inadvertently SORASed him.

The only major instance of SORAS I can think of in Corrie was in the early 90s when Mark Redman (one of Mike's sons) was aged up a couple of years so that he was a school friend of Nick Tilsley.

Home and Away does it - a good example is VJ!

Didn't Neighbours do it quite often? Hannah Martin especially was SORASed

Not that insignificant when he only had 14 years on the clock at the time surely? Louise Carpenter was given an extra 3 years and Charlie Hoyland an extra 1 on his reappearance this year but Andrew Robinson definitely didn't suffer from SORAS as he was actually made younger by two years for his return in 2009!

Hannah was only ever played by one actress so quite how SORAS might have been achieved I'm not sure. I suspect you're getting confused with the inconsistency about her birth which eagle eyed watchers realised would have had to occur a year before her parents even met.

Peter Barlow, although I believed he got aged in the late 1970s to allow him to join the navy, then he reverted to his proper age in 1986 so he could celebrate his 21st birthday with his sister Susan.

They also did it with Sam in Home and Away in the early 90s. Pretty sure he was 7 when he first appeared in 1991 episodes....but by 1994/95 (UK pace) he was 12. I remember my cousin at the time turning to me and saying "He's not the same age you YOU!" I think the actor was actually the same age as me, but was playing younger when the character was introduced.

Noah, Debbie, Sarah and Jack in Emmerdale still have the same date of birth.

Ben in Neighbours was actually SORAS'd back in 2007 because the producers wanted to cast a specific actor- the character returned with Libby as an 8 year old when his birth had been shown on screen in 2001. His current "official" year of birth is 1999 which is before his parents got married.

Louis Fairhead in Casualty is 4 years older than he should be; the character is - based on last time his age was given 24, despite being born in 1996.

Most UK soap characters do actually age normally - I believe, that apart from Louis the only example I can think of is Ian Beale in EE who celebrated his 21st 2 years after his 18th.

I can't think of any British child character it has happened to ecept Louis Fairhead and Grace Beachamp, both in Casualty.

Ian Beale was as well but he was a young adult and it waa only by a year.

It isn't something done as a matter of routine in British soaps unlike American and Australian ones.

Sophie Webster: Born in November 1994, she started high school in September 2005 instead of 2006. She got her GCSE results in August 2010, but then celebrated her 16th birthday in November 2010 and a few months later, it was said she was in college.

Sally Fletcher is a good example of someone who grew up normally and aged appropriately. She is also unique in the fact she was never recast as a child which is quite unusual
