Hi everyone,

I'm looking to invest in a SAD lamp and have no idea what I should be looking for in terms of specs etc. Does anyone here have one and if so, which did you go for and do you rate it?

Any advice would be great. Thanks

My advice would be too have a look at what's on offer and go for a lamp that's got very good customer user ratings. Good luck!

I have a 'SAD' energy saving lightbulb in place of a standard 'orange' looking light bulb. It blew after 2 years so for a few days last week I had to have the 'orange' bulb in till I got a new one from amazon. Its only then I realised what a difference it makes ! Those hideous orange bulbs really give a wintery low feeling plus they make me look ugly where as the SAD lamp is like 'studio' lighting

Question. Out of interest, Is there still a need for a special SAD lamp?
LED or CF bulbs that are the same colour temperature as daylight (6500K) are readily available for a few quid.

There's a thought. I didn't realise you could get bulbs like that. I'll look into it, thank you.

I use a lumie alarm clock, I have found it to be very useful and easy to use. I think it has made a difference too.

I've been looking to buy one for my husband as he gets very sad in the winter and finds the morning very difficult. How long have you used it?

I think since about February last year - you have to use it all the time, during summer too, so that it is consistent. I would certainly recommend it.

Thank you. I've done some reading of reviews and what not and they seem fairly positive too.

I was quite sceptical but thought it worth a try. I find I am much less groggy when I wake up now too.
