Just what was the purpose of bringing him back? he's not an awful character but just a bit boring, brought back for a nativity play? i'm very critical of SOC but i'm thinking now that there are some serious cutbacks going on in the soap, with all the younger cast at the forefront, all the axings and the lack of newcomers, i'm starting to think SOC might have his hands tied here.

He was specifically brought back because of the tenth anniversary of the death of Pauline Fowler and is one of the few links to the Fowlers that would be possible to bring back.
